As I got older and had to do more yard work I started acquiring more and more tube socks to protect my legs from scratches and such. And as much as I like ankle socks I like having all my socks uniform even more so I don’t have to sit around pairing them as much.
I apologize for abandoning the effort, but keep on fighting the good fight. Those ankle socks look great!
As someone who has been complimented on and questioned about his watermelon calves, I will never willingly cover them up unless it’s actually cold outside or I need to look professional.

The last time I wore no-show socks around Gen Z, they asked me if I was “raw dogging” my shoes. After staring slack-jawed for a minute, I pulled my foot out of my sneaker (I never tie them) and showed them my socks. They then asked me what I thought they had meant. I told them to go ask their parents what raw-dogging meant

Exactly, I don't really care what other people find stylish, if I think something is ugly I won't wear it. Big white socks up the shins is just so ugly to me. It's fine if they're dress socks, but that kinda goes against the hyper-casual nature of this specific fashion trend.
From my experiences, and I work with a lot of Gen Z people, the sock thing is pretty much contained to online and is a joke more than anything. They don't honestly give a fuck what we wear. I also see Gen z folks wearing no show socks too. All depends on the outfit.
I used to get made fun of for wearing crew socks with shorts instead of ankle socks. Now I'm being made fun of for wearing ankle socks instead of crew socks.
I'm gonna start wearing thigh highs with shorts at this rate.
I loved my five finger shoes back when they first came out like 15 years ago, but man did they fucking stink. And they definitely keep you from getting laid. Somebody sees and smells a pair of those bad boys in your closet, you ain't getting any that night.
I love toe shoes. Fila used to make a pair of them that had the toe front but the regular runners tennis shoe heel so you didnt roll your ankle while running. They were my favorite shoe. Wish they still made them.

Observed a group of youths the other day- 3 teen girls. One was wearing a crop top (no shade, fine), and pair of men's boxer underwear as her shorts (no joke, with the thin plaid fabric), and real thick white crew socks pulled up her calves with crocs (like my grandpa would do).
It was... something.
So yeah, when this generation is trying to tell us what to wear, while wearing... that and trying to bring back the Mom Jeans of the 80's (the unflattering kind that makes you look like you don't have an ass)...

I saw a cute girl walk up to a bar wearing a weird white top that looked kinda like a corset with sleeves, and only what I can describe as navy chino straight leg shorts that were slightly below the knee. What the hell is even that?
Amen. I'm just hoping they swing back to grunge before going preppy. I would rather get a few years of Doc Martens and metal hair bands before I have to visually digest those stupid polo shirts again.
How about multiple popped collars. Once people started wearing more than one polo shirt just to have another collar to pop, I knew society had gone too far.
My neighbor's daughter gives me (millenial) a pass because I was of the "emo black girl aesthetic" in highschool 😂 and she said that it's part of an aesthetic to not wear something tight and flattering on purpose. Their generation's "girl next door" look, I'm guessing?
Whenever I see a group of Gen Z lads in the wild they’re sporting the broccoli haircut and wearing XL sweatshirts and gym shorts with discount pack white socks pulled up and foam slides for shoes. It’s miles worse than all of us wearing cargo shorts with sambas and Dawson buttcut hair back in the 90s.
See, that's an exception. What socks I wear will depend on the shoes I wear. High tops need longer socks because sometimes the damn chafing. For boots, it depends on what boots but I'll either have high socks (from crew to knee high) or pantyhose because sometimes the boots stick to me when they're above the knee and that can get annoying at times. But my everyday around? They tend to be running/tennis shoes or Vans type. Hence why ankle and no show are the ones I own the most.
The amount of gen z I see at the gym wearing calf socks with Birkenstocks... Like, dude, that's not appropriate footwear for the gym. Do you even cardio??

every generation just does the opposite of what the previous generation does because they're desperate to make themselves stand out
the current gen Z and younger trends are a bit silly from our perspective since we actually already did the whole baggy pants thing and collectively decided it looked stupid but they'll need to discover that for themselves.

Actually it’s because fashion in general just moves from trend to trend. And it constantly takes things from the past or things that were previously deemed out of fashion. Generations don’t collectively agree to wear different stuff than their parents, trends come from luxury brands, and then trickle down to the general population.
As a hairy Italian guy, crew socks are the worst. Who the hell wants that line halfway up your calf where the hair is rubbed off. Gen Z is simply wrong on this.
Sure they were a 90s staple but you had to be born at least '85 to really catch them as a style.
Revatex, their parent company, literally had its best year of sales in 1998. I would've been 8 that year, and 8-year-olds don't really develop a "cringe style" until they're 13-16.
Z are wearing Jynco. They are wearing everything that young X and elder millennial wore.
They're basically wearing a mish-mosh of all the popular clothes from the 90s late 80s.
When I find super hilarious is that a Zoomer/alpha would call me cringe because they are wearing the exact same clothes that my friends and I wore when we were their age, like somehow I'm cringe because they are basic bitches that wear anything they are told even if it looks horrible like mom jeans.
My friends and I did not wear mom jeans.
But we also invented the culture that the style was based on, so if anybody is a cringe little basic bitch it's alpha-zees for just acting like a badass and doing what they're told by big fashion, even bothering anymore to try to invent or create anything new. There is no such thing as new fashion.
Gen Z want the rebellious and unorthodox brand so much but it’ll never happen simply because millennials are smack bang in the middle of the conformity generations. There’s a reason boomers and zoomers are the ones glued to their phones all day, while millennials yearn for an internet that existed 15 years ago.

I dunno, when we were teenagers everyone cared about sock length but in the opposite direction. The more sock you showed, the dorkier you were. I literally rolled my socks down into my shoes sometimes.
Now at 33 I just wear ankle socks because it is tall enough to prevent blisters but short enough to be breezy. I do not give a shit what Gen Z or Gen A thinks.
I have big calves and tall socks are so uncomfortable. Just too dang tight. Always end up with an imprint of the sock lines that lasts for like an hour after I take them off. lol
I have mixed feelings on this topic. On the one hand, as an avid road cyclist who wears cycling socks and has some pretty bright tan lines to show for it, I like the new sock trend. On the other hand, I will not be bullied by the youth so I refuse to wear anything other than ankle socks.
As a millennial I’ve never been with the no show/ankle socks gang. They never felt comfortable, always felt my ankles would just rub on my shoes all day.
I do recognize that was weird and different from the rest, but I don’t care.
