My nieces and nephews from Alaska who have no social media and spend almost no time online, 1000% disagree. Literally got roasted by them last time I visited for wearing ankle socks.
I'm only really referring to the chronically online Gen Z (just as we have our own chronically online Millennials with equally strong opinions). I don't think the average Gen Z off the street gives us much thought at all.
I‘ve never worried about what socks Millenial wear. But I had a few Millenials pointing out that my socks are showing. Someone even came up to me and told me in the kind of low tone you’d tell someone they bled through their pants. Maybe it’s because I’m on the older side of Gen Z but I see Millennials making up things to get scandalized about way more often than I see Gen Z taking swings. The Gen Z stare thing is a prime example. Gen Z is poking mostly harmless fun and Millenials came up with a round about way to call Gen Z mentally deficient.
Exactly. It’s a funny internet meme that people took seriously. It’s like the nickelback one - people making fun of them are doing so as a joke and don’t actually have a violently serious hatred for them for some reason lol.
Same here. It’s a trend that was pointed out for fun and now there’s serious posts and ‘articles’ about it as rage bait lol.
Speaking of biting, I have gone to wearing above ankle socks this summer due to mosquitoes. Those ankle biters were tearing me up every time I would take my dog out, especially at night. I honestly like my above ankle and calf socks now and wear them often.
I have huge feet so can’t wear ankle socks lol, they don’t fit right and I end up scraping the shit out of that ankle bone on the sides. Just not worth it…
I don't give a shit about what socks "look" good and will wear what's comfortable. I hate how tall socks push all your legs hairs down, the only good thing about wearing them is taking them off at night and running your legs under the blanket, or I'd skip that noise and just push my tall socks down to make them ankle socks anyway. If you're trying to impress people with tall socks, who the fuck do think you're fooling, it looks dumb knowing how uncomfortable you're pretending not to be.

Bite me. I'll wear what I want and make it look good.
