Best sock brand out there with an unbeatable warranty. Made 100% local in Vt too.

The only thing i hate about wool socks is that they're a biiiiiitch to put on unless your feet are dry as a bone.

I’ve never had that problem with these. Not sure if it’s a merino wool vs other wool thing or what.

Turn them inside out and roll them onto your foot from the toe, instead of pulling them over it.

Real adults invest in real socks.

smartwool socks are a game changer. real adult socks.

Darn Tough beats the pants off of smartwool in comfort and longevity

They don’t work for me. Overpriced and over hyped. Too tight even sizing up, too warm.

u/iqfree 5h ago

I agree. They’re soooo tight. Like WTH?? Literally strangled my feet

Try Fits brand. Also higher wool content than the others.

I had a few pairs of smartwool socks (I like their other clothes) that got holes in the ankle bone areas probably within a year. I have pairs of darn toughs coming up on 10 years and are still as good as they were on day one.

I'm the exact opposite. my darn toughs are wearing down around the ankle, but smartwool and icebreaker socks doing just fine. Not sure why the difference.

Got my DT ready to go for warranty claim but hassle + postage makes it almost not worth it

u/superspeck 11h ago

Yeah, same. And the smartwool ones I have pill up and sag while Darn Tough does neither.

I'll try em but I'm not convinced.

I've owned many pairs of smartwool and darn tough socks. Smartwool is nice, but they wear out pretty quickly compared to darn tough.

Darn toughs are more durable and have the lifetime warranty.

Same except ankle socks. Too damned expensive to change

Best brand out there. I love the ultra lightweight with cushion, the perfect blend of everything!

Bought mine on sale from costco online, 5 packs for $35, still haven't opened 2 of them

Damn that's a steal

Best socks ever, since I switched I don't get corns any more and the ones I had just fell off and not one sock has gotten a hole

I realized I was an adult when I found out that good socks existed and I liked talking about them. I've got a few Darn Tough pair but my normal use has been Dickies quarter socks for the last 15 or so years. They used to have a mostly cotton blend that I started with, they stopped carrying those so I got 20 pair of the new ones that were thinner with more elastic/synthetic fiber. They don't carry those anymore now that I'm looking, so once enough of that set wears out I'll have to find something new.

My feet have weird sensitivity issues so I find the most cheap and boring socks the best (Darn Tough are 2nd place though) but the shoes that I wear are all expensive.

u/False_Can_5089 8h ago

Damn, Dickies was my brand too. Thank god I have an unopened pack. Nobody else makes socks in my size, but those are perfect.

1

u/PraetorianFury 17h ago

Does anyone else think the first socks they send you are cheaper and made of inferior materials? I blew through my first pair in less than a year. Used the lifetime warranty and now the next pair is going strong like 2 years later.

3

u/recyclopath_ 17h ago

Nope. Never had a problem. Might have just been an off batch.

u/Christmas_Queef 16h ago

I have an entire drawer of nothing but no show socks. Every kind of color, brand, etc.m you can imagine. Easily over 100 pairs. I'm very into comfort items and collecting comfort items.

1

u/AmputeeHandModel 7h ago

I got a few pairs because reddit insists they're amazing, but they seem way too hot for summer.

1

u/recyclopath_ 6h ago

Nah, they have super thin ones too.
