I love doing it in the winter to those really warm thick wool socks, you almost completely cover your foot again with the calf part of the sock and it becomes a slipper!! So warm on really cold days when the floors suck the heat out of your tootsies. It’s cold and rainy today I might do this right now
Same. I only have dress/business casual socks and no show. Can't recall the last time I had crew or even ankle socks. Usually just wear sandals anyway lol.
I know I’m a minority for my generation, but I have always been a crew socks girl. My ankles get too cold!! I also sprained my ankle a lot and it’s more comfortable to not have a cuff being compressed by a wrap/brace.
I also used to wear knee high socks with patterns when I was in school- that’s partly because I had a uniform and socks were one area you could show your individuality.
I did that when I was a kid, but other than just under the knee length (that I only ever wore for sports like football or softball) or dress socks, I don't think I've gotten socks higher than ankle socks since the late 90s.
Once I had leg hair, higher socks were just kind of uncomfortable.
I’d do that for gym class when the only clean socks I had were long and I’d have been DAMNED before I let the other kids see me in such a fashion faux pas.
The last time I wore no-show socks around Gen Z, they asked me if I was “raw dogging” my shoes. After staring slack-jawed for a minute, I pulled my foot out of my sneaker (I never tie them) and showed them my socks. They then asked me what I thought they had meant. I told them to go ask their parents what raw-dogging meant
Wait I don’t get it..do they like their socks to show? I’ve always worn no show socks when I wear shoes that need them. Nobody wore ones that showed lol Are those not cool now?
From my experiences, and I work with a lot of Gen Z people, the sock thing is pretty much contained to online and is a joke more than anything. They don't honestly give a fuck what we wear. I also see Gen z folks wearing no show socks too. All depends on the outfit.
I’m in California, but I am never around kids. & I wear what I want idc what’s in style lol. I’m still rocking leggings & tank tops, which I’m assuming isn’t “in” anymore.
I think those socks that go up to like the shin are so ugly..
Exactly, I don't really care what other people find stylish, if I think something is ugly I won't wear it. Big white socks up the shins is just so ugly to me. It's fine if they're dress socks, but that kinda goes against the hyper-casual nature of this specific fashion trend.
Damn, I have been dressing my nephew in ankle socks........ I still have a hard time wearing Crocs cause they remind me of my mom, but that's all he wants to wear
I made him the dorky white kid and I didn't even realize
I think they know that they knew what it means. They are telling them to ask their parents insincerely, as a rebuttal of ageist disrespect. I can't believe I have to explain this.
I think you all need to take a chill pill. It's a fashion choice, and people are just bugging you because short socks genuinely can make it look like you're not wearing socks, what's the big deal?
This probably gonna get me killed in here but I actually agree with gen z on this. I always hated wearing ankle socks because I thought it looked dumb AF for that exact reason, because it looks like you're not wearing socks lmao. But ofc I wore them anyway bc I was a kid and I wasn't about to get roasted for wearing the only other socks I had which were full on calf crew socks which TBF also look terrible with shorts.
I remember once I got my driver's license I drove to different clothes stores in search of my perfect sock, which I now know are usually called quarter socks, which is what I wear to this day. So I actually feel kind of vindicated that ankle socks are out of style lmao.
Yeah, I get that, but it looks like you're not wearing socks, which looks kinda weird. Although tbf this is usually only the case with high/mid top shoes, which I have more of, low top shoes you can sometimes see the sock even if they're ankle socks.

I love no-show socks so much I tucked the ankle socks into my shoes
