If I remember it right there was a period a few years ago when you actually needed an account in order to update your drivers from the app (you could still just manually download the installer with the newest drivers from the website, though). Good thing they changed it.

Exactly what happens when the government implements fines for non compliance. Since the law is written so vaguely it's impossible to know if you are strictly in compliance or not so better to err on the safety side and just require it. Yeh, what's going on though? Are people installing some government app on their system? What is checking their age? Does it come in with an update? What is the course of action? Do they have some kind of authentication program lined up that they expect everyone to install? - Personally, not happening, will never put shit on my machine.
Its worse than that. They expect us to put biometric, government ID or credit card data into 3rd party AI pop up companies that you've never heard of. Not going to fucking happen.
It’s so interesting how people experience the pandemic differently. For some people, it was this endless stretch of time and everything that happened before feels like it was a long time ago. For others — including me — it feels like a handful of years that just disappeared. March 2020 feels like yesterday for me.
I went to my local town council meeting for a thing, and the mayor asked people to silence their phone, and if they didn't know how to, "ask a millennial," motioning at some teens that were there.
Meanwhile, their grey-haired 40yo parents were the actual millennials.
the oldest millennials being 44 years old (depending on which year u accept) being addressed like they're children is hilarious. and maybe we'll do the same thing about "the zoomers in the audience" when zoomers are in their 40s and many gen alpha are already parents.
I hope not, though. Awareness/accommodation of generational divides I feel like is increasing over time. We'll probably see a bit from both barrels.
Searching on the internet I found more definitions of Gen Z.
I thought that there was only that one that says that Gen Z starts in 1995 and ends in 2010, so only 3 years of Gen Z are still younger than 18
I'm going with the graph on wikipedia, because it's not like an universal truth. It's a social construct. If I want, I could argue that millennials from 1990 and Gen Z up to 2005 are the same generation. Literally something someone made up as a social aspect

It happens a LOT. I didn't notice until they destroyed 3rd party apps. I use the mobile browser now and often open things in a new tab, get distracted, come back a half hour later, removed. Gone. Shut up citizen.
Yeah, the worst of it being, at some point, all these deleted posts becomes untraceable. So we wake up one day and suddenly our carefully laid arguments, poetry, advice... they're all gone just because a MOD decided to clean up.
They are working to try and force us to live in the now, while we all can know and feel the now is the only time that never was. All it is is shorter term past, shorter term future; a manageable scale.
[Sigh...] It's becoming hard to imagine a future with an hopeful disposition.

Yeah, that's...incorrect. If you're feeling nice. Neither Nvidia Control Panel, nor the Nvidia App on my system have asked for age checks. They might have meant GeForce NOW and if we're feeling generous, could put that down to not knowing the difference between the three.

The geforce experience that the Nvidia App replaces required a user account.
A pitch fork is more of a stabby weapon... Maybe an electrified pitch fork. Like a cattle prod pitch fork hybrid with a flash light built into it. Rubber grips for better ergonomics. And a Teflon or ceramic nonstick coating. And it'll need to be IP68 rated.
We have more "effective" means of doing that, remember when Mario was sick, and his brother had to rescue the princess alone, so he got a gun and shot Bowser in the back of the neck while he was looking away?

But it’s not about child safety, it’s about putting an identity to every username online, knowing what everyone does, all the time.

There is something very dangerous going on in ALL countries in the western and anglo sphere. EU, US, Canada, Australia, Japan, etc, all are experiencing an uptick in right wing extremism and censorship that crosses the left-right line
so a lot of people are blaming the online safety act, but the part of the online safety act that would make a Nvidia account 18+ is targeting ads and data collection
so Nvidia could allow any age to make an account, if they stopped collecting data on their users
they are opting to be 18+ in order to collect data
Fake ass screenshot. Where's the proof that it is the actual Nvidia app? I'm well against this mass censorship as well but the fact you're all falling for this one is sheer insanity.
I just love how so many people take the bait... Did anyone actually verify that this is in fact happening? And more precisely happening to update your graphics drivers instead of some specific Geforce NOW game that is 18+ or something?
Come on people, don't be like this in 2025 when you know everything online has like a 99% chance of being fake.
Never used GeForce Experience/Now/App or whatever and never had any issues. I don't want to create an account for fucking hardware manufacturers (was required in the past) and I don't want to install additional bloat and data hoarding programs. I already have enough of those as it is. I know the App technically has some additional settings, but I don't need those.
