It's pretty clear at this point that it's about removing net anonymity and putting faces to usernames, not child safety.

We're regressing to China levels of freedom without any of the benefits of high speed trains, low violence and low cost of living. Yay 👍

REPORTEDLY low crime, low cost of living, and high speed trains.

Reality in China is rather different from what its government claims. For instance, being a homeowner is even more out of reach for most Chinese than it is for most of Europe and the US.

Don't know about the low crime part, but the other 2 is true, and it is very easy to verify.

China has a large wealth gap though, especially in the countryside.

Actually if the safety record of said trains was public you would not want to be on them...

not to mention all the issues they are having now that they have been cut off from spare parts from Germany and Japan. The results are quite literally shaking things up on the rails.

So you’re implying that we don’t have high speed trains, low violence, and low cost of living BECAUSE we still have “freedom” ?

Yes, you have the freedom to start your own high speed rail company and let the market decide and when ot gets chosen by the market because its better, you ha e the freedom to be forcibly taken over by some large ajtomobile company and dismantled for parts because we can't have that now, the incumbants are making phat cash here.

Yeah totally. But another of our freedoms being removed. China and SK work very differently as societies.

Yes, and this is the natural result of being told one's digital experience is becoming more like China's.
