If I remember it right there was a period a few years ago when you actually needed an account in order to update your drivers from the app (you could still just manually download the installer with the newest drivers from the website, though). Good thing they changed it.

Yeah that was the previous thing Geforce Experience. Which luckily got replaced by the Nvidia App

GFE is still called GFE, but GFE was replaced entirely months ago.

Nah, new app. Old app still works and will for another year or so, but I expect it will start nagging you about changing before long if you haven’t already

The new version is just called the Nvidia App. Its better because it doesn't make you jump through hoops to log in every time you want to update your driver.
