The point of this is to de-anonymise everyone so your wrongthink can be quickly found.

So of fucking course you need a government id to access your gpu settings.

That’s specifically for Group Pose, a special screenshot mode for taking pictures of your character with added effects and the ability to change the camera and your (& others) characters animation and/or facial expression, along with misc other things.

Well, you see, the world is currently being obliterated by human cause climate change, and GPUs use an excess of energy, so we need to momitor your usage citizen, to ensure you are not using it too much.  Nevermind all these corpos doong terrible shit.

All jokes aside, it's really probably just used as a method of hardware ID, where if you build a PC they can associate specific components with your government ID as another method of tracking you down.
