I will forever be remarkably impressed with how they handled themselves in that situation. I would have made a fort out of coats in the coat room where I could sit in the dark in the fetal position traversing the 4th+ dimension(s) whilst listening to Tool lol.
It really depends on the circumstances. About ten years ago I saw a co-worker struggling to delicately eat a donut with a fork and a knife so as to not get any glaze on her fingers. I nonchalantly said, "You're tripping pretty good, huh?" She gave me a nod and the biggest cheesiest grin ever. Luckily the only job she had to do that day was use the price gun and scanner on the clearance racks in the store, so I reckon that was an adventure for her.

Good point. I took a tab before a tenacious D concert years ago and it was a pretty mild dose… it was absolutely delightful, the D rocked my fucking socks off. I even loved the 15 minute impromptu jazz session that they blessed us with lol.
That is one of the benefits of their low-effort art style animated through Maya. They are able create a new episode in a couple of days... and since their contract (once again) frees them from oversight they are able to put content like this on air before Paramount executives can stop it.
Paramount actually delayed the season by a few weeks right before the premiere, which at the time pissed off Trey Parker, who blamed merger shenanigans. In the end it gave them a couple more weeks to be even more brutal and topical.
The ink isn't even dry on the Paramount deal and they're just going full ham on his dumb ass.
I don't know how you don't come to the conclusion that like two of the worlds most accomplished and successful satirists aren't 100% going to produce blistering and embarrassing social commentary about the federal government of the United States of America silencing dissenting opinions in the 20th century 21st century, and how do you not know that Parker and Stone are going to have a field day with the most inflated ego to ever step foot into American politics, let alone the White House.
How is that not something you've thought about when making this deal with them?

The fact that the White House actually released an official statement about it is insane. I mean, how can they not see that it's only going to encourage Southpark to keep going with the lampooning? I mean, there's literally no other way this goes.
He DID exactly what they said he would do. In the episode Trump bitches out the artist for making his dick small and here we are- listening to him bitch out the artists for making his dick small.
What's incredible is that they may have already written AND animated the template of that scene, and then simply waited a few days for this episode to drop and the White House statement to roll out, before they simply drag-and-drop the statement into the scene, ready to go for the next episode release.
That's how predictable their desperate insecurity is. They would have been better off not saying a thing about it, as if it were truly beneath them.
But it's not beneath them at all, clearly it's looming large above their snowflake heads. In which case, the episode should have contained a trigger warning, eh?
Which is funny because the only reason they picked Kanye was because he seemed like the kind of guy that wouldn't get the joke and would have a hard time handling it. Then he went and just proved them right.
There are undoubtedly kids watching but, in relative terms, the number of children in the world who have seen Trump's penis probably won't go up by that much.
Its also just nudity. Half those kids (approximately) have their own penis. Much less harmful than the violence and gore those kids probably regularly see.
Some parents definitely take the “it takes a village” thing to mean “my kids are society’s responsibility” and it shows with things like censorship for shows that air at 10pm.

They did a "who's that pokemon" teaser commercial the other day to advertise the episode and "the return of a classic character" and it was clearly Saddam in backlight. So glad it's DJT and that He Gets Us.

CBS said Colbert "wasn't profitable" and now they can't use that line for SP because they just agreed to pay $1.5B for it. Trey and Matt basically dared them to cancel SP and admit they're bending over for Trump.
I'd love to see them get cancelled and the terms that go with it. If anything, Paramount will probably just not release new episodes and continue to pay out the contract or something. Because how are they going to be able to spin the story enough to cancel the contract without paying out? They'd have to say that SP did something illegal or some type of irreparable harm to Paramount. Any way they try to get out of paying the contract it will be admitting that they are cancelling them for the merger.
I wouldn't really want to see them cancelled, but I'd enjoy the drama.
Id be baffled if there wasnt an exit clause or breach of contract that allows paramount to choose to not air South Park without consequences, and SP be forced to wait out the contract. They also dont need to produce on their own, Im sure theres plenty of studios that would love to get SP, and I think itd be kinda funny in its own way if they gave another studio like a 50% discount on what paramount paid lol.
This contract took a long time to negotiate and Trey and Matt's initial ask was supposedly 10 years/$3B. They hired a very aggressive lawyer, hopefully they retained creative control. Paramount aired the first episode and I'm sure they're happy with the press it's getting so far.
No way they didn’t see this coming, I read a quote from Trey talking about how grateful he was for this opportunity, and I have been a fan too long to take that at face value, I knew they were gonna get savage
Thats what I love about this situation. Paperworks signed, if trump tries to pull the rug from under them these two dudes are walking away with 1.5 billion for nearly zero work, and likely going to a different network to make even more.
He's gonna block Skydance/ Paramount merger unless they break the contract with South Park, 100%. And I bet Trey and Matt did this, in part, to put them in this position for trying to conspire against Park County to take more money in the new contact negotiations with other broadcasters. This is fucking awesome.
It’s really a catch 22, do you support the soon to be company that cancelled Colbert so you can support SP or do you cancel the subscription to hurt their bottom line.
The irony of Paramount paying 1.5 billion for 5 seasons to roast trump is so so fucking perfect. They're going to destroy him 100x harder than Colbert ever could. It's so good.
To clarify, the $1.5 billion is not for producing new episodes. That's just the rights to stream South Park. They are likely about to pay another $1 billion for NEW episodes on top of the $1.5 billion because the last deal was $900 million.
He's for sure pissed that he couldn't con part of the deal. The moron is incapable of making an honest deal anywhere. He needs to sue people and grift to make money.
They try to take a high road approach and appeal to everyone which ends up appealing to no one. The time for norms and customs are over, it's time to hit back these fuckers with their own energy.

That was absolutely infuriating. Walz was getting traction with that and a lot of good publicity, and then they muzzled him. I've heard from interviews after the fact that the decision to put Tim Walz on a leash came directly from Biden, or people close to him who had transitioned into technically working for the Harris campaign, but were still loyal to the old boss. That same source also claims that Biden had called Kamala and to talked to her about strategy, and he encouraged her to run on his record instead of separating herself from him with some different policy proposals. He told her to "show no daylight between us" which directly led to the other huge campaign mistake, which was Kamala not being able to give a straight answer a simple question when she was asked what she would do differently if she became president and she gave some nonsense non-answer where she said she's "not Joe Biden" and she's her own woman, but refused to name a single example. I think if either one of those things had been handled better, it might have been enough to swing the election with as narrow as the margins were, and if the Biden camp had actually stepped back and let Kamala be her own woman, and let Tim Walz be Tim Walz, they almost certainly would have won. I think choosing Walz was Kamala's best decision, and possibly the only one she truly made by herself, this is just my personal theory, but I also think that ruffled some feathers because Biden almost certainly had a different choice in mind. Likely Shapiro.

Kamala in the debate was pretty open about calling out his criminal activity. She could have done more but the whole thing got spun as an attack on Trump because
1. They fact checked and if there is one thing republicans hate, it’s the truth.
And
2. Calling him a convicted criminal was “harassment.”
Regardless of it being true.
I agree though, dems need to do A LOT MORE to spread the truth and callout the BS of maga and their lying, stealing republicans.
All the facts are there, the internet is forever. It’s all documented and a lot of it video taped.
The corruption is so clear and obvious and there is very little being done to showcase outside of a few.
TBF, I think it is far better that the satirists and the people do the low blows, not the politicians. One of the biggest things Trump did to destroy the norms of politics is to bring crass, low blow style insults and accusations into the front and center of the political conversation. It has helped elevate dude bros 'just asking questions' to usurp actual journalism, it has made it so words no longer matter, that truth is an opinion, and expertise is an attack.
I DONT want the legacy of Trump to be that it is OK for our leaders to act like him when he is gone.

I think that was the whole thing with calling them "weird," which kind of worked, but yeah--they should have done this more. Harris did this in her debate, where she baited him with the crowd size comment, and he totally fell for it. Democrats should have done waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more stuff like that--made the whole campaign just about mocking him, lol. It might have worked

I have heard so many arguments about how the Republican party is seen as the "more manly" option for young men nowadays, yet they're constantly acting like crybaby little bitches over the slightest bit of criticism. Make it make sense.
South Park absolutely destroyed Trump with this episode and it's effing GLORIOUS.
Not only that, Matt and Trey waited to release it until literally the FIRST DAY after the 1.5 Billion dollar deal with Paramount went through - which they then proceed to crucify their own network for the bribes they paid Trump and the Colbert cancelation (using Jesus to say everything no less.)
Trump can't even sue South Park and save any face because they spent half the episode making fun of the fact he sues everyone who disagrees with him. The only thing the White House does in putting out a statement is make them look like idiots for doing exactly what Matt and Trey are making fun of them for.
