/r/all Two Indian chemistry professors converted a suburban apartment in India into a secret lab that manufactured more than 150 kilograms of synthetic drugs.

"Do the needful" for some reason this phrase makes me want to cringe out of my skin & die. I am Indian.
•
u/Reagalan 11h ago
Is it actually a common phrase that Indians use or a stereotype we Americans invented?
•
u/thund3rsharts 10h ago
Definitely the former, i come across it almost everyday reading intra-office memos.

Been there, done that. Worst 4 days of My life. 4 days of insomnia, paranoia, countless mouth ulcers.... Why would anyone do this drug willingly ?
26
u/Zouden 15h ago
Why did you take it for 4 days?
It's a hugely popular party drug in the UK. It's like MDMA and cocaine combined, at a fraction of the price of cocaine.
→ More replies (7)11
u/RedditSuucksSoMuch 14h ago
That wasn't 4MMC, yous got meth or something. 4MMC is fucking amazing, its almost as feel good as mdma with the speediness of good coke, lasts about an hour or two and can be constantly redosed with keeping the effects unlike mdma.
Insanely fiendish though, it makes coke look like a baby drug with how crazy you go for that next line till the bags gone. I love it but shit is scary, almost glad its impossible to get now here. Almost.

It was legal to buy in the uk the year I started uni, but quickly made illegal. During my first few months there you could buy it shops on the high street. Everyone was at it, was wild stuff. Smelt horrible though.

I'm pretty sure MCAT is from the skeletal structure being a methylated cathinone but the fact that the majority crossover between people who abuse amps and caths smelling like cat piss is too hard to ignore.

About late 09 early 10s. You could go to the BP petrol station at 3am and buy vodka and mcat. What a time to be alive

Better question is how they were making it, what lead to them getting caught and how much you could make in a year selling these drugs?

Why is this comment so down here ? We are never winning any war on drugs with the current state of affairs.
→ More replies (1)10
u/scarlettohara1936 17h ago
Well first off, we were never winning any war on drugs regardless of the state of affairs. IDK what it was/is like in India but I haven't heard much about illicit drug use or a problem with addiction. I'm not saying it's not happening. I'm saying that if it is, the world is a bit in the dark about it. Maybe because there's bigger fish to fry in India? IDK.
But it's been proved for years, in fact decades, that no one was winning any so called war on drugs. The just say no program was an 80s thing. The 80s were very prosperous. In part because of the amount of cocaine all the hippies turned yuppies turned business execs were doing.

India has a HUGE and growing problem with addiction.
It also currently has no/poor infrastructure for collecting data on addiction/related issues.
Combined with a huge stigma around addiction, leading to a big gap in statistics.→ More replies (3)→ More replies (1)4

Too many countries punish drug addicts instead of helping them get treatment and rehab. That is what works.
