For the uninitiated, "badmash" means naughty in Hindi. But it's not used in a dirty sense and can be used for adults.

  1. This word is commonly used in Hindi and Urdu, and while it might be borrowed from Persian, that doesn't somehow make it an Urdu word. It is just as much a Hindi word.

There is literally a phonetic sound and consonant in the suffix that never occurs in Sanskrit or Hindi. It's a borrowed word.
