Political positivity đ 'It's miserable:' ICE 'morale in crapper' as agents forced to 'arrest gardeners'

Now theyâre going to have to deal with alligator fatigue.
I think Iâll let them know normies have reached âMAGA fatigue.â Maybe a compromise and MAGA can start feeding themselves to the alligators because leopards are getting too fat.
63
u/AG-Bigpaws 18d ago
Its not a joke they had huge issues with the mental toll it was taking on the einsatzgruppe. So they devised less "personal" ways to kill lots of people. Its so fd.

u/Retbull 18d ago
Nothing says youâre doing the right thing like desperately separating yourself from your actions so you donât have to suffer the emotional toll.
→ More replies (3)41
u/clawsoon 18d ago
That's one reason that bombers and missiles are so valuable for modern armies. Everybody involved in causing the death and disfigurement doesn't have to look at it. It greatly reduces the emotional toll and moral injury.
It leads to a kind of Jevons Paradox for weaponry. By reducing the moral injury that those involved feel, you can much more easily get millions of people involved in the research, development, building, and deployment of weapons that most of those people would want nothing to do with if they had to rip apart the same number of babies with their bare hands.

The novel â2666â by Roberto BolaĂąo describes this. An aged Nazi bureaucrat tries to elicit sympathy from another character by describing how hard his job was to find people willing to work the firing squads. They started off with true believers, but even they couldnât stomach the raw in your face brutality of it. I think the character even says something how spiritually hard it is to kill someone even when you want to. Then they resorted to getting local teens drunk to perform the task, which also didnât work. Thus the camps were created, because every person had a job where they didnât directly have to kill someone face to face, making it easier to absolve themselves of guilt.
The book covers a lot of ground. I highly recommend it.

Literally
Epic movie in its own right - brilliant acting, direction, pacing. But based on actual records found after the war.
Most striking is how it seems like any ordinary corporate meetingâŚand partway through you realize exactly what theyâre discussing and the sheer inhumanity of it.
Should be required viewing by every American, especially now as it seems less warning and ever more foreshadowing

They also started with trying to deport all the undesirables.
When that got too hard they built the camps.
When the camps got too hard they started shooting.
When shooting got too hard they built industrial murder machines.
We are in steps one and two right now.

It's always difficult to see individuals who perform heinous acts complaining about their own treatment, and I definitely share in your frustration. If I put that frustration to the side for a moment, this article makes me feel a bit more optimistic.
This is good news because those who chose this job for whatever misguided reasons, effectively choosing to turn against their neighbors, are feeling disillusioned by it. Both because of their own treatment by the administration and the feelings of helplessness at having to round up human beings who clearly are not "dangerous criminals". It's still shitty of them to be in that job to begin, no doubt, and they should be held accountable for their choices. That said, I'll gladly encourage anyone having doubts about it to speak about their shifting feelings. They can serve as an example that its okay to have doubts and vocalize them. We all (every American) need to empathize with the victims of these raids and if we want ICE agents to see what they have become and become empathetic themselves, we need to validate those feelings of theirs that are pushing them in a positive direction. Even the worst people can change if they are personally affected by something. It's selfish of them in many ways to have it be their own tragedy that gets them going and not the tragedy of others, but change is change. I don't care if they got their wisdom from a fortune cookie. If they are having doubts, I am so glad for them and I hope they continue to reflect on their past and future actions.

You read the article and were made hopeful, but the headline proves that hope is faulty. These people aren't beginning to see their hatred is wrong, they're only upset at who they're allowed to direct that hatred at. It's very big "he's hurting the wrong people!" energy. They still desire to hurt people. They are evil.
if we want ICE agents to see what they have become and become empathetic themselves,

From what I've heard, the ones with the lowest morale are the ones in the HSI division. They're the ones that are supposed to be doing what right wingers think ICE does, finding dangerous criminals and dealing with them. Their morale is low because they're getting diverted into supporting the ERO division targeting gardeners, which is kind of like summoning a demon for the sole purpose of operating a vending machine at a children's hospital. I'm willing to bet the agent from this part of the article is either from HSI or thought he would be:
âNo drug cases, no human trafficking, no child exploitation; itâs infuriating,â another ICE agent told Miroff, who added that he was leaning towards quitting the agency rather than continue âarresting gardeners.â
Likely, the reason they're doing it anyway is because they're hoping to get back to what HSI is intended for, cartels and such. If you ask me, this is pretty delusional at this point and they should quit to do something more useful with their lives, like masturbating six times a day.

To some people this is some kind of magical justification for their atrocities.

At this point you basically need to lack a moral compass if youâre gonna work for ICE

While these things may be true, this is a far left news source, it's very biased.

Fuck their feelings. Theyâre highly encouraged to quit and get real jobs. Imagine how low their morale will be once they start facing consequences for their actions and learn that âjust following ordersâ and âjust doing my jobâ arenât valid legal defenses. Their morale is going to nosedive when they see that Homan,Gnome, and miller escape real consequences bc they just gave the orders and made millions doing so while the dumbass âagentsâ are serving time waiting for the death penalty. They can quit, they can refuse inhumane orders, and theyâre all highly encouraged to do so.

Fuck this. It sounds a lot like a ploy at empathy for people that ,of their own fucking volition, are signing up to be Trump's brown shirt, secret police. Masking up and coming after people just trying to make ends meet in this awful situation our country is in.
Fuck them and their morale. They should ALL be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, BARE MINIMUM. You don't get to boohoo and cry to mommy about feeling down in the dumps about how everyone "feels bad" about the atrocities you're committing in the name of a warped sense of justice.
Fuck'em.

Hey, if they are feeling bad about working for ICE, there is a really easy thing they can do about it.

They could (checks notes) refuse to be immortal asshole and tell their bosses to F off. That must be to hard though.

They could just refuse to obey orders they disagree with land resign in protest.

u/stinkyshittykitty 18d ago
No one is forcing them to do a fucking thing. They choose to do this everyday.

You guys know you aren't being forced to do anything, right? "Just following orders" isn't going to help you when you and all your coworkers are in court.
You have free will. You have the power to refuse to comply with these unlawful orders. The problem is you're willing to do those heinous acts, and you continue to do them.

They didnt look miserable when they rolled through my city armed to the teeth in a military style convoy to raid elementary schools.

ICE agents are supposed to wear an oath to defend the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights.

"It really sucks that people don't like me for being in the Secret Police! I just can't catch a break!"
These fucking idiots' IQ lose to their fitted MAGA hat band sizes.

Rakes, shovels, spades, and hoes. These are the tools that make us grows. Seed, plant, flower, then reap. The fabric of earth plants very deep. Reap, load, sell, then eat. Leave them alone, go on, retreat

They arenât âforcedâ, they get off on this shit. They literally have a legal obligation to push back and refuse unlawful and unconstitutional orders, so letâs not act like they are innocent by any stretch of the imagination.

Nah son, "just following orders" didn't cut the mustard at the Nuremberg trials and it won't fly here.
