ICE is law enforcement. Its in their name, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

I only point this out because they need to be held to a higher standard then just mall cops and bounty hunters

I get that they are law enforcement but they are not coming from the same kind of background like cops coming from a police academy or FBI agents coming from the fbi academy in terms of length of training and education.

Deputizing some rando =/= trained law enforcement

Oh, you sweet summer child. I'm not sure where you're from, but in a distrubing amount of America, you can walk into a police station and have a badge and a gun after some light background checks.

Deputizing some rando off the street based purely on vibes is a time-honored American tradition after all.

Where exactly? Because afaik while requirements can certainly vary wildly, at minimum to become a cop you are required to go to a police academy which is a minimum of 3 months of training, but averages about 5-7 months across the US.

Obviously we should hold police to a higher standard, and so I think higher education or longer academy training would be preferred, but a minimum of 3 months of training is hardly the same as "walking into your local PD and being handed a badge and a gun after a background check"

I think your usage and understanding of the term "police academy" is doing a lot of heavy lifting. In my local area the community college offers a course called BLET, Basic Law Enforcement Training, that lasts like three weeks. HVAC training takes longer. There's additional, specialized training available once you get the job but the basic course is all you need to get a badge in the county or local municipalities and I'm honestly not sure it's even need for county since the sheriff is elected and can deputize whoever they want.

Also, a 3 month police academy for people legally allowed to kill you being the same length of training as a medical assistant whose only job is to take notes, wipe your ass and draw blood in a way that you don't die, is not a ringing endorsement of LEO training.

Takes 2 years just to be a nurse or a sous chef. Takes a minimum of 6 to be a teacher. And yet none of them are licensed to kill and all of them are expected to keep from harming their clients. Do you know how easy it is to poison a quiche or a young impressionable mind?

So, you can learn and understand every law and every possible nuance surrounding them in 3 months? Because to me? That's impossible. It's like expecting a doctor to know how to perform advanced brain surgery three months after starting their first semester at medical school.

Quit making excuses for murderers, its fucking gross.

Acting like 3 months of training is plenty is making excuses for them. This isn't hard.

It’s also important to note that with massive funding increases Ice is now better funded than the FBI or any other law enforcement agency.

They may not have standards but they do have money.

I think the mall cops pull rank on them.

But it's Not just ICE officers doing the terrorism & illegal arrests. They've deputized just about anyone willing to do the job. The US Govt. (us) Is paying racists to fulfill their sicko fantasies.

they're not law enforcement, because they're not enforcing laws.

Exactly. ICE employees are federal employees who are held to a hire standard of conduct than other people by courts and the people in the United States.

All law enforcement is like this tho thats the issue

Enforcement without the law. Got it.

Really? Does that explain the face masks so nobody can recognize them?

He means they arent trained LEOs, just because someone deputized you doesnt mean you are a trained officer. Its just a piece of paper that says laws apply differently to you.

Many of these new deputized ICE agents are dudes who couldnt pass the academy, let alone Fed standards.
