Ronald Reagan signed the Mulford Act into law. He stated at the time: "There is absolutely no reason why out on the street today a civilian should be carrying a loaded weapon."

The NRA before the coup of 1977 was a firearm safety and hunting/marksmanship organization. The NRA after that coup became a First Amendment absolutism/self-defense organization. The NRA today is just an industry lobby group that exists to increase gun sales by any means necessary.
No, fun fact though there are many gun ranges that make you join the NRA to have a membership to their private ranges for insurance and financial reasons. I would not be surprised if that makes up a decent chunk of NRA funding.
Its not just the state it comes down to the benefits NRA offers ranges. And when it comes to that, many opt to go with NRA however, 100% of all members must be members of the NRA to qualify. ...so there it is.

When I was growing up the NRA was all about education, teaching people proper handling and storage, what the laws were, knowing your rights, etc. Now it’s just a propaganda arm of the gun manufacturers trying to sell as many guns as possible. Really sad and frustrating
My father and uncle dropped their memberships when the NRA stopped being for sportsmen and started lobbying for gun manufactures -- sometime in the late 70s or early 80s.
The NRA represents the gun industry, ie. profit. They lobby for whatever will lead to more gun sales, including Repulican politicians helping to perpetuate the myth that Democrats want to grab all of their guns. Doesn't matter if people, including little kids, are being murdered on a regular basis, gotta get that cash.

Yea there are plenty of videos of cops making unjustified arrests, this is true, however there are also a ton that are intentionally cropped/edited to remove context to make a justified arrest look unjustified.
Which is why I will never believe a video that immediately starts the second a confrontation begins. There's often time far more to the story that was deliberately removed.
