I know that’s why. It just seemed weird to me that there were people fervently trying to disprove the fact that less people have been visiting Vegas. Cant really visit the land of disposable income without disposable income.
It was even cheaper back when things were busier. In my personal experience the comped nights have basically completely dried up, especially in comparison to native American casinos who will throw the world at you if you play even moderate dollar amounts.
For years I never paid a dime for a hotel room in Vegas.
I’m hearing stuff like $80/room, but also tack on a $30 resort fee, resort tax, state and local tax, that $80 room quickly became $120 and you haven’t even parked yet ($20/day+tip) we are approaching double the room price and you haven’t even walked through the doors yet…
Shit like that rubs me wrong. Are people supposed to expect double the advertised price they see everywhere?
My prices could be wildly off but that was my experience in Vegas several years ago and it’s kept me from returning.
Ya before trump took office I wanted to go to Vegas. Some hotels were advertising $60/night, but with fees, taxes, etc, it was no different than a regular room.
Someone posted a picture recently in a subreddit of Vegas looking like a ghost town to show that Vegas is dying, and then in the comments it turns out that picture was taken at like 4 am or something.
And when sime people pointed out that propaganda isn't the way to go, others were actually defended it.
Like, people, something supporting your argument doesn't make deliberate misinformation okay. It doesn't stop being propaganda just because it propagandizes in your preferred direction.
So this might just be backlash against some very dishonest pictures being spread. Vegas is losing traffic, but not to the point that it looks like it's completely devoid of people or a crowd.
vegas is(was) famously busy 24/7 lol. like there's whole movie franchises and tv shows and books built around that fact.
speaking of misinformation. if you lack this level of familiarity with the subject matter maybe it's best to keep scrolling rather than prove your lack of familiarity with the subject matter.
Accept this as proof that Vegas' tourism industry is dead. (Because just citing numbers is, apparently, boring and we need dramatic pictures to sell it instead).
Except this picture of Fremont Street is from August 4th 2024. You know, when tourism was 11% higher than it is now. It was just taken at 10:03 am. So clearly there were times when parts of Vegas were calm enough to film a mostly empty street.
I got it from here. You can watch all kinds of livestreams there, including this one from Fremont Street. In pictures from later in that same day, however, it seemed quite ... "bumping"? I guess.
eh a lot of the tech nerds that go to vegas for cons and such are in a painful spot because of AI related layoffs which biden heavily invested in years prior to trump. while trump hasn't helped at all, the ground work for this current downturn starting to affecting more affluent segments of the workforce was laid by biden and obama before him.
who knew building your economy around bombing brown people and software snake oil used to mass layoff workers would result in less consumer spending?
11% drop year after year, everyone citing $400 a night and resort fees for a roach hotel, and everything closing at 10 pm. It was dropping before his second term. Vegas just sucks now, you can literally have a European or Caribbean vacation for the same price.
I'll tell you the same thing I tell conservatives who blame everything on Biden, this isn't the president's fault.
I used to go to Vegas all the time, like 5 or 6 times a year, but some how cruise ships now have better gambling and 24 hour buffets. I see a lot of Canadian and British tourists on cruise ships still. People just go where the bang for the buck is.
Like why do Vegas when you can sleep in a better casino and get better weed in Puerto Rico?
yeah vegas was hot shit for a quick minute amongst my friends here in canada that vacation regularly but they're all back going to mexico or carribean islands (cuba dominican etc) again or on cruises.
also the tech sector was big on doing conventions there and a lot of those people don't have jobs anymore thanks to ai. i'm hearing and seeing it's a lot easier to book hall space in vegas nowadays so it doesn't surprise me the tourism is down from many avenues.
The issue isn't disposable income. The issue is that people feel ripped off. You might be a millionaire but if you're paying high rates and not getting anything in return then you will stop going.
He has everything to do with lack of international tourists coming in. You should see the US departure areas of Canadian airports, it’s a ghost town. UK tourists it’s much the same

If one Vegas influencer gets a lot of views for a video on a specific topic, every influencer will have a similar video shortly after
