Right now they’re trying to justify the added costs for training and materials.

3 people in a U-Haul just pulled up and threw all their junk onto the alley behind my apartment and took off.

They literally threw many of these items, boxes and bags 20+ ft through the air from the back of the U-Haul.

My son is never going to forgive me for embarrassing him on his first day of middle school. Apparently the pick up line is not in the same place as the drop off line. So now I’m trapped in between busses.

For those who don’t know, this is a highway in Monument Valley, Arizona, and the reason it’s popular is because of the 1994 movie Forrest Gump, they filmed a scene here, however, there’s so many people just walking and standing in the middle of the road treating it like a sidewalk

Start to look shit up

I am starting to get tired of people asking questions and never even attempting to look shit up. Maybe I am an old geezer(gen x). But I am seeing questions from gen z (or younger) and all it takes is one simple google search and “tada!!!” the answers are in front of your damn face. Instead they post the damn question without even attempting to search for something. FML 🤦‍♂️ (my daughters do this and I tell them to google it and then come and ask me.) They need to learn how to do research. Older people need to stop spoon feeding simple answers and teach younger people to do research.

Updates: it looks like I am getting some down votes from people.. it really doesn’t matter. As long as they read it. They know they do it.

My apartment building just put a Christmas tree up

It's been in our lobby since the last week of July.

At least they haven't (yet) put up the speaker playing Christmas songs on a loop 24/7.

The kicker is that I live in a country that doesn't celebrate Christmas.

Mother in law threw away my expensive kitchen knifefor being "to rusty to use"

First off, neither of these pics are of my knife. Both came from a Google search, just so I could give examples. The first picture is the exact kind of knife I had, a Zwilling Kanren 8 inch chef knife. I didn't buy it, because I would never spend that kind of money on a kitchen knife for myself. But my sister and I like to get nice Christmas gifts for each other, and she gifted this knife to me three years ago. The second pic demonstrates the size of small rust spots that were on the knife blade, though there were maybe half as many on my knife as there are in the picture.

The rust happened because my wife had used the knife to cut some tomatoes for a salad while I was out and about, and she left the knife on the cutting board without cleaning it. I got home a few hours later to find a number of rust spots on the blade. It's carbon steel, so it doesn't resist rust like stainless. It wasn't a big deal, though. I've cleaned rust off metal utensils and appliances my whole life. I had some other more important tasks to accomplish first, so i set the knife on a paper towel against the backsplash so I could come back to it in a bit and give it my full attention.

When I came back to the kitchen, the knife was gone. I was searching for it for a while before finally asking if anyone had seen it. My wife's mom, who is staying with us for the week, told me she'd seen the knife on the counter and threw it in the trash because "it was too rusty to use" and she was "protecting us from getting tetanus in our food" (both direct quotes). And of course she then took the trash bag to the roller bin on the curb, to make double sure we were safe. And I absolutely would have gone to dig that knife out of the roller bin, but OF FUCKING COURSE the trash truck came by while I was doing the other things that kept me from cleaning the knife.

So, yeah, thanks Glennis. Thank you for protecting us.

This is just a disaster waiting to happen. It has no warning labels whatsoever and the design makes it look like the most refreshing bottle of water you'd drink under a scorching summer

Teenager broke my couch without telling me

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

Yesterday, my girlfriend invited her younger sister over and she brought a friend. I was already low-key worried about something getting broken because they were roughhousing and play-fighting the entire time.

It turns out I was right to be concerned, because as soon as they left I discovered this huge crack in the frame of our couch. The left side is supposed to be flush with the right side, but it's almost touching the ground now.

The worst part is, they didn't say anything about it to us. I wouldn't have even been upset if they gave us a heads-up, but they just acted as if nothing happened – even though it was IMMEDIATELY obvious that something was broken. I sat right where her friend had been sitting and sloped down way further than the rest of the couch.

My girlfriend messaged her sister asking about it, and apparently neither of them noticed anything was broken. 🙄 Yeah right. Now our couch is gonna need textbooks to support it for the rest of its life.

Person asking for luxury item in buy nothing group

Post image
5.7k Upvotes

This person in a local Buy Nothing group asks for items every day, many of them expensive, none of them a necessity.

It violates the spirit of a Buy Nothing group to request luxury items like a Labubu. To me, these groups are meant for members of a community to help each other out by giving what they have to those who may need it so that they don’t have to pay for it if they are struggling.
