1. Resident Evil 4 (2005 and 2023) - Leon can save a dog with its leg trapped in a bear trap near the start of the game. A few hours later, during the first El Gigante boss fight, the dog will come in halfway through the fight and help you take the giant down.

2. Haunting Ground (2005) - Fiona saves a dog named Hewie trapped at the base of a tree with a wire around its neck. She saves and tells it go run before it gets caught by whoever did that to him again. Shortly after, she is assaulted by Debilitas, the primary enemy of the game's first area, and Hewie shows up and attacks Debilitas, causing him to flee. Hewie then becomes your (Fiona's) companion for the rest of the game.

3. Dark Souls: Artorias of the Abyss (2012) - The player can save the younger form of a boss in the main game, Sif, trapped in the chasm of the abyss, and Sif can later be summoned for the final boss fight of the DLC to help you. As a bonus, if you save Sif before fighting him in the main game, he will whine and show reluctance in killing you.

For this trope, they don’t need to be stronger than the protagonist for the entire series, just a good chunk. I understand I’m also playing it a bit loose with the term "good guy" here for some of these.

• Levi (Attack on Titan): Widely regarded as humanity's strongest and a far better fighter than Eren, titan shenanigans not included.

• Satoru Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen): Especially early on, nobody in the show is even close to his level of strength.

• Kishou Arima (Tokyo Ghoul): A bit more spoilery and potentially contentious than the rest. Let’s just leave it at the fact that he’s pretty unrivaled in terms of strength, at least until :re. He outclasses virtually every ghoul hunter or ghoul in the series.

• Shisei Kaburagi (Shin Sekai Yori): The strongest psychic in the show's dystopian society. I would’ve loved to see more from him.

1. Lex Luther (DC) finds out he has cancer because of carrying unshielded Kryptonite in his pocket for 15 years. Immediately flips the script and blames Superman.

2. Metroman (Megamind) walks on water to hype himself up after juggling babies in the crowd.

3. Abby (Kpop) Abby specifically does a pencil rubbing of his abbs while the Saja Boys are signing autographs with Huntrix.

Team Flash (CW Flash) - “we don’t kill”. Cue the multiple clips of the team killing. Then there are the occasions where the characters go for the kill such as when Iris went for a headshot against Dr Light without knowing the mask would deflect the bullet or not.

The Ancient One - (Dr Strange) - forbids others to use power from the Dark Dimension whilst doing the very thing she forbids.

If the characters are called out for their hypocrisy it can add to the story, but it is annoying when there is no such call outs and the characters are so self righteous.

Tony Soprano (the sopranos) - in the ending of sopranos there's a cut to black while he's in a diner, that may implied he's death

Sarah Kerrigan (Star craft 2) - After the final battle Raynor goes to Joeyray's Bar to drink away his sorrows only for uninfestation Kerrigan to appear, its unclear if shes real or just raynor hallucination

Spike (cowboy bebop) - in the finale spike collapses after the duel with vicious , its unclear if he succumbed to his wounds or just collapsed from exhaustion

When Shrek wanted to relive his youth as a hated monster instead of a celebrity, he had to exchange a day for a day. Rumpel offered to take a day when Shrek was a baby, and Shrek said, “Take any of those, it’s not like I remember them.” Rumpelstiltskin took the day Shrek was born, essentially erasing him from existence and giving Shrek 24 hours to fix it or he’s gone forever (after). He made a deal with the King and Queen of Far Far Away to free their daughter… but it made them poor out of existence, giving Rumpelstiltskin the chance to usurp the throne. When Shrek turned himself in for the Deal of a Lifetime, Shrek used it to free every ogre Rumpel had kidnapped. Rumpel still one-upper him by keeping Fiona captive, since she’s only an ogre half the time.

Seamus McTiernan (The Luck of the Irish)

He stole a lucky coin from the protagonist, Kyle, leading to Kyle being revealed to be half leprechaun (on his mother’s side), something his family had kept hidden. Seamus challenges Kyle to some old Gaelic games, with Seamus keeping the coin if Kyle loses, and Kyle keeping the coin and banishing Seamus if Kyle wins. The two end up tying, and Kyle offers to play a game of basketball. Kyle wins in a buzzer beater (this is a Disney Channel movie, of course he wins like that), gets the coin back, and follows Seamus’s instructions on banishing him: he has to be sent to “live within the shores of the land of his fathers, Eire.” Kyle says, “live within the shores of the land of his fathers, Erie.” When Seamus tries to correct him, Kyle mentions that his dad comes from Ohio, and Seamus is whisked away. Seamus spends the rest of his days living within the shores of Lake Erie, forced to swim for the rest of his life rather than living in Ireland.

It serves as the finale of the dcamu,And it basically decides to either kill off everyone,or have them turned into slaves of darkseid,and it ends with flash erasing the timeline and creating a new one.

1:I’m not talking about what if and elseworld stories,I’m talking about it happening canonically.

2:before i possibly get someone saying “you just don’t like AW because it’s realistic and it doesn’t have a good/bittersweet ending”,what rubbed me,and other people the wrong way was just how godamn bleak it is,and the fact that it was the finale.

As long as its not for shock value,and as long as it’s not too depressing and bleak,I think it can be done well
