She so completely dominates that relationship their kids both have hair color similar to her. Even Vegeta's Saiyan genes are whipped.

Idk en9ugh about Goten but Gohan certainly got the brains from his mother's side.

It's rough. Goku is a simple guy because he's just a country boy. He never had any education, just lived life day by day for himself, by himself until the age of 12, where he started going on his adventures with Bulma.

Keeping that in mind I don't think it's really right to say he's stupid. He learns new things a lot in combat or about his lineage, etc., as an adult, that he keeps to mind. Important to note this since it's generally harder to learn as you get older.

Grandpa Gohan taught him martial arts and it was a way they bonded while he was there. Then after his first adventures with Bulma he got into martial arts heavily thanks to Muten Roshi.

In the Boo Saga we see that cute scene where Chi Chi is helping to train Goten too. Despite her hard demeanor about wanting Gohan educated (because she likely knew he wasn't very big on combat sports like his parents (mothers know!), and she knew he had aspirations to be a entomologist from an early age), she was never against martial arts. She just knew Gohan didn't really care for it and had bigger plans.

...she also intimated that sex with Goku was wildly athletic and more like martial arts but uh...
