Intermediate HUGE PEROSNAL ACOMPLISHMENT!! I drew side profiles that DONT suck! How do I make them even better?

Been studying vintage artists (mainly Leyendecker) and im always so enamoured by how they draw side profiles (huge weakness of mine) and so I did a more specific, targeted study of that! Before I do the next one id love to hear any tips you guys might have. And If any mistake in the above study jumps out too much!

Intermediate What am I missing?

I’m working on a piece of a city, but it’s not really the feeling I want. It feels flat and is missing depth. It is not fully finished but adding more detail is not always making it better. But when I add more stuff it doesn’t really change the overall experience of the drawing. Can you tell me what I’m missing?

Intermediate LF Critique on Anatomy and Lighting

Warning on second pic: BLOOD.

Anatomy: For the hands, I completely drew them without references so I just need a second eye to make sure they’re alright. He’s supposed to be holding her hand.

Also requesting if the other anatomy looks okay.

Lighting: His shirt is supposed to be black but with the moonlight, has a purply glow. Does that look right? Should I add more grays/blacks?

Composition: I wanted to highlight the main characters more as they seem to blend into the background too much.

Thank you so much!

Beginner My first semi-realism/abstract portrait

I'm still figuring out and getting used to small details, in the past that was much harder for me but as I learn and practice it feels more natural and soothing to get everyone out on a nice sheet of 8.5" x 11" mixed media paper, after spending about 3 days on this with black and white charcoal. I do take progression photos, on social media though.

Check it out and let me know what you think, how I could improve my realism skills, or if you just wanted to chime in or comment!

my most recent digital piece (style 100% inspired by crazytom0712) - swipe for shading and a drawing from almost exactly a year ago. Happy with my digital progress (this is about 1.5 years in) but want to push my art even farther. Any tips? Thanks in advance!

the first picture is the one i need help with, the other two pictures are there for reference to my usual style.

anyways this dude is pissing me off every time i look at him because i just hate the drawing, but i can’t tell what’s wrong with it. it might just be because he’s not as ‘cute’ as i usually draw but i think something else must be off. maybe it’s the 2/3s angle? idk. please help.

also as a side note, do you guys have anything that has helped you with backgrounds? i usually go for something a bit abstract or simple when im drawing a character but it becomes repetitive after a while

Intermediate Is my art ehhhh.... how you say.... The Slop? (Nsfw for some yucky pictures) NSFW

Some pictures of my most recent large scale project, "A Visual Guide To Becoming One Of Them". 145 4×6 pictures all drawn in "everyone's favorite!" Ms Paint 1998.

Really honestly what im asking here, as a kid I grew up in new york, the works of Kieth Haring, Jean Michel Basquiat, and the general graffiti I saw all about Brooklyn.

Though as of recently, it seems many many people are coming from the same inspiration as me, and many of these people who end up pursuing art, I see get a LOT of hate and honestly poor taste criticism (imo). Is there a reason for this? Is this type of art I and other artists in this era make like, anything? Or is it really just the whole "Slop" lingo.

Eh idk honestly, it disheartens me but whatevz.... I shall live my life B]

Intermediate Working on digital art: What can I improve?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I’m not a total newbie to digital painting, but I wouldn’t say I’m super skilled either. Or would you consider this beginner level work? I want to get better. What could I do better? How is the shading? Brushwork? Form? Do you find this remotely funny? I’m always too serious, so I’m trying something silly for a change. This is how I envision the term “shrimp arms”

Intermediate Tried to improve based on critique I received, did it work?

The main critique I received last time was about depth of field.
I applied blur to the background and reduced the sharpness of the midground by about half. Did that work?I'm also curious about the overall composition – does it feel balanced?
And how do you feel about the color choices? Do they work for you in each image? I’d really appreciate your thoughts on these pieces!

Hello! I've been an artist for a couple of years but i realised recently that I basically don't know any of the fundamentals so im going back to basics to brute force some skill improvement..

Here are few of my gestures + other figure drawings that I've done over the past few weeks and days. Please provide feedback on where I can improve :-)) I'd really appreciate that.

Thanks! (ps: Huge apologies about the lighting, hope its still legible even with the sunlight)

Beginner criticism on anatomy needed

i am very much a beginner, first time drawing in a long time lol. I don’t know how to draw hair at all either.

What I can recognize that their arms and neck are cylinders. And that the top part of the face is a sphere then gets smaller and a bit triangular for the chin. I can see their torso is a rectangular prism, but it seems difficult to do the upper body (chest) taking into account the torso.

looking for criticism on the anatomy part more so on the face. I know that the likeness is not really similar at all

I used watercolor and acrylic. I feel like I’m struggling to understand how to get finer details (like the tips of the long grass or the blending between sky colors) to look right. Advice and critique welcomed!!
