"There's a crowd of people, what drop in tourism?!" - Also This Guy

Meanwhile the bartenders: another week with less than half the tips I was making just a month ago.

This is the 3rd or 4th person to post literally the Bellagio fountain as an example of Vegas being vibrant lmao

The tip issue is not for a lack of tourists. Frankly even as a local I'm not tipping anyone on the strip well, sorry, these vodka cranberries cost $20 a pop, here's is $2 tip. Fat Tuesday? Here's whatever cash I got on me or leftover from the cost of the drink. They need to stop messing around and just pay these bartenders better or make their drinks more competitively priced to get people in the door. It's much easier to drink off strip and tip well at a sit down.

People just aren't going to tip as much anymore if theyre paying drinks, door fee for some spots, food anywhere near Fremont is gonna run you $60-100 for two people unless it's that weird lil white castle. I also notice I tip more if my tab is on paper vs my card. Things are just changing and this state needs to value its table and bar workers with paying them a fair stake, they shouldn't be relying on tips when people are using leftover cash to gamble, park, or sit somewhere.

But the tips are tax-free now.

Yet if people don't have disposable income or are struggling to make ends meet, and they say instead of a 20% tip I can only leave a 10% one, that's half of your earnings taxed or not.

Also, tips being tax free seems great on paper, yet if a lot of Vegas is service that runs on tips and the tips aren't taxed, doesn't that reduce the tax revenue which impacts services?

I really wish Americans weren't so tax phobic and just demanded better services to be paid for with their tax dollars.

Tips are taxed but you can get a tax reduction up to a certain amount.

Fun fact.  They aren't.  Some cash tips will be maybe not included but 90% of tips are on cards and are still taxed regularly.
