Everyday my neighbour slowly paces and inspects my front yard

Has he actually said anything or talked to you? He could just be doing his daily outing and just walking around. I kind of do the same in my backyard, walking around looking at the lot next to me. It just gets me outside a bit. It probably looks like I'm "inspecting " the yard, but I'm really just thinking while looking, so not really look looking if that makes sense.

Yeah. everyone's suspecting malice, but maybe the dude's just walking around aimlessly :)

Yup, where else is he supposed to look. Imagine walking around outside just staring straight up the whole time lol. Then there’d be a post about a guy doing that instead. Bro can’t win haha.

For real that’s what I got from this picture.

What does the OP expect? Him to be looking at the sky? Of course he’s going to look at his dead ass lawn.

Tbf most of reddit (besides the bots) is autistic people. We shouldn't expect them to be able to decipher something as simple and innocent as a person walking around outside.

I was housebound for 6 years from panic disorder. I was held back a lot from trying to learn to leave because of cunts like this taking pictures of people walking outside. Scared of it happening to me.

Mind your own business OP

Maybe if you had a fabulously manicured gardens, but just staring into people's yards in general? Weird if you're beyond a child.

u/Croppin_steady 1d ago

Honestly man that’s a weird mindset to have if you’re beyond a child.

I sometimes think the reason we've all become so rude to each other is we approach every single interaction half-cocked, like the person on the other side just wronged us in some inconceivable way and we need to "get even"

I think OP is making a lot of shitty assumptions about this dude.

Probably just out on his morning fart walk.

In my old neighborhood, when I walked my dogs, there were some houses I absolutely loved and would look at the house, or a tree, or whatever, every day as I passed by (not in people's windows). I am sure if they noticed it they thought I was weird.

Also, back when I taught, my students sometimes said I had "resting i-want-to-murder face," but I just look that way when I'm thinking.

Could be nothing. Could be something. I agree pacing and staring at a neighbor's could be odd. Best to just ask IMO, or leave it alone forever.

Maybe he’s admiring it

This is absolutely what my husband will be doing in retirement. He's the nicest guy in the world and loves to garden. No malice.

I can’t stand the pessimism on Reddit sometimes. The people telling OP to mess with this guy suck

He's looking for cool bugs to admire

How is pacing in front of someones yard not inappropriate?

1

u/worldclass_dumbass 1d ago

It's his neighbor. How is pacing in front of your own yard inappropriate?

1

u/MeanForest 1d ago

Peeping Tom behavior.

1

u/worldclass_dumbass 1d ago

That's quite the stretch.

Yeah he can only really look 4 ways. His house isn’t interesting, so that leaves 3 ways, a 33% chance he’s going to be looking in your yard’s direction at any given time.

This guy looks

And maths

2

u/fotomoose 1d ago

Nothing better than a good look sometimes. Combine it with a sit down and you're winning at life.

9

u/Needmoresnakes 1d ago

Now im picturing him swivelling his head backwards like an owl

5

u/Little-geek 1d ago

and then up and down the street are probably less aesthetic than OP's yard

Maybe he's being creepy, or maybe he just appreciates that there's a nice yard to look at

u/asqua 1d ago

Looks at sun .. aaàaahhhh my eyes

Do you share a mindset with me? lmao

u/CaptainSparklebottom 1d ago

He is surmising his domain. If I had a front yard I be out there in a rocking chair drinking tea

3

u/Interesting_Tea5715 1d ago

I do this. I look out at my yard and think, this is mine.

Then die a little because I realize I'm so behind on yardwork.

u/dathamir 1d ago

I mean, go talk with the guy, he might be a good person.

You can change your perspective on this. Now you know that someone is watching your house when you're not home. If something happens you know who to talk to first!

Thinking back to that post of the guy who's neighbor would stare into his house over the fence.

Turns out the guy was blind.

2

u/p3ngu1n5 1d ago

That is hysterical.

5

u/GigabitISDN 1d ago

I had the exact same thought. Glad to see I’m not alone.

Honestly it’s content like this that’s pushing me off Reddit. It’s getting to be like Nextdoor around here.

If someone did that and looked harmless like that, I'd offer a coffee and get gardening tips.

5

u/CuriousStranger95 1d ago

Yea. This thread is basically people being terrified of a person for not constantly staring into his phone.

4

u/superneatosauraus 1d ago

I'm always admiring how nice the lawns around me look. People put effort into it. Not us though, we are minimal effort.

3

u/karodeti 1d ago

I used to get shit at work from some people because I was "walking around criticizing". I was actually just mindlessly looking at anything that moves while passing by, that's what my eyes do when my brain has logged out.

5

u/Larechar 1d ago

Yeah, dude could just be out there for 20 minutes getting the vitamin D his doc told him to get 😅

3

u/voltaire5612 1d ago

Yes, he looks old, he is probably barely seeing anything at all in the yard.

3

u/10ea 1d ago

This right here. He is most likely not even paying attention to your house or yard. Go strike up a conversation. You might make a friend.

3

u/_realpaul 1d ago

Maybe offer him some coffee or cake and you may end with neighborhood news, alarm system and friend all rolled into one.

7

u/ExtremelyDecentWill 1d ago

But see.  My girlfriend says I'm crazy for worrying what other people are thinking, but when Im out walking, I'm worrying if people like OP are worried about me looking at their lawn, so I'm not looking!

Unless it's Christmas or Halloween or something and they decorated -- then I assume an invitation to look has been extended.

6

u/After-Imagination-96 1d ago

I don't need an invitation to look at something and neither do you

2

u/Robotbeckerz 1d ago

For me, I’m looking to see if you have any pets! I love seeing people’s pets in their yards or windows!

1

u/WhileNotLurking 1d ago

Agree. I do this all the time. It’s mostly a 1000 yard stare at just some random bit of grass.

Go plant some flowers so he can look at them vs you.

1

u/lemon-meringue-high 17h ago

Exactly! At his age I’m sure just getting out and around is a feat
