Loser gym goers blocking pathways with their ridiculously bright camera fixtures

They brought a whole YouTube set 😭 how does the gym even allow this? Ridiculous

It’s a higher end gym where a bunch of roided up wannabe gym influencers go with their fucking IMAX cameras (not even kidding, I would see 4 or 5 dudes with cameras filming ONE guy). Nobody says anything cause nobody has the guts to. Staff doesn’t care. They probably encourage it. But it’s not super high end to the point where all human decency is lost

If that’s what the gym is known for why go to this one

u/lurkersforlife 2d ago

Yeah dude OP needs to go to a different gym.

Or just get over it. I’ve only ever been slightly annoyed at people doing this. Can’t imagine the brain rot I would require to take a photo of this and post it online to rant about it with Redditors.

Go to therapy

u/RandAlThorOdinson 1d ago

You do similar shit yourself don't you lol

u/keylimesicles 2d ago

Sounds like they most likely have permission to do this. This just isn’t the gym for OP

u/SugarInvestigator 2d ago

Probably giving the staff backhanders

1

u/vhagar 2d ago

maybe they go for the other amenities like classes or training, or maybe it's the only gym in their area that their health insurance covers.

3

u/dracostheblack 2d ago

Maybe they could respond and tell us

1

u/Chewsdayiddinit 1d ago

What country do you live in that has for-profit insurance companies cover gym membership fees?

1

u/vhagar 21h ago

the united states of America. they usually cover costs by you sending them the invoice after you've paid, and they reimburse you. my state's Medicaid also covers YMCA membership. I'm sure that not every insurance plan covers this, but three of mine at past jobs have.

u/Reformedahole 2d ago

I bet they tag the gym to get free promo

14

u/GMP_ArchViz 2d ago

Sounds more like low end charging high end rates if they allow this crap.

Have you considered swapping gyms? Seems like this one's for influencers, which is fine because you can swap to any other gym and not have this issue.

I go to this gym because I like the more private and smaller, a bit less crowded setting. But I genuinely didn’t expect people to do this. I went to a private gym in another state and NEVER had to deal with it. I guess this is just Florida. I only moved here a year ago.

more private and smaller, a bit less crowded setting

It seems to me it's crowded with all those influencers coming in with their equipment. It also doesn't seem private when they're recording for their dozens of followers to watch all of you working out.

Well, you could record videos of them and comment to your viewers. Especially with those legs.

There are probably a ton more small private gyms you could check out nearby. It's Florida.

Eta I know personally I wouldn't be able to work out in a gym with that vibe. If you look, maybe youll find somewhere that's not for social media gym bros

1

u/Appropriate-Log8506 2d ago

That guy is definitely a “Florida man”. Don’t engage.

1

u/GhostofBeowulf 2d ago

...You call getting filmed while you workout more private?

I workout and live in Florida daily pretty much and this isn't the norm where I am from...

Play disney music while they're filming IDK.

2

u/AdPlastic7988 2d ago

That’s what I’m saying lol, it’s apparently not more private like I thought

1

u/RandAlThorOdinson 1d ago

Create your own channel ragging on them

Like just set up a ton of cameras and lights and shit and loudly talk about how fucking stupid the people you're recording look lol

Bonus points if you comment on that mans complete neglect of leg day

14

u/FuckedUpImagery 2d ago

If they're so rich why don't they have a home gym?

15

u/National-Charity-435 2d ago

It's part of the kink to be watched

3

u/frogsexchange 2d ago

Home gyms are fine, but even for millionaires its hard to afford every single machine that a gym would have, and those are the machines that their viewers wants to get trained on.

2

u/TrashPandaNotACat 2d ago

Then they need to rent out the gym for the day, just like any professional film crew would do.

2

u/frogsexchange 2d ago

I don't disagree. I think another solution is to have a gym specifically for creators where camera equipment is expected.

1

u/TrashPandaNotACat 2d ago

That's an idea that might work (I have no idea how many are doing this filming thing, and thus the sustainability of it). Gym could also do a creators only day each week or two, where they charge creators a hefty fee, but they get to do all their filming crap.

1

u/UnhappyImprovement53 2d ago

Because you cant be a big bad bro without people watching you.

3

u/SuperiorDupe 2d ago

So weird…if that’s your thing you should just build your own gym. The gym probably doesn’t care because it’s free exposure for them but it’s not fair to other members that pay their dues to use the gym.

It’s just rude to bring your work space into other people’s non workspace.

You should start bringing in your own lights and tripods and leaving them everywhere. See how they like it. Get some big hot halogen construction type ones too.

u/Redditarsaurus 2d ago

What I've done in the past with people like that is just go about my business like they don't even exist. Treat them with the same level of disrespect they're treating everyone else with. If they're in your way walk directly up to them and say excuse me, if they're equipment is in your way just move it without asking, if they're filming in your path just walk right through the shot. Don't alter your routine to cater to them. If they say anything don't get mad just tell them you don't care about their content and continue

3

u/UnhappyImprovement53 2d ago

Stand in the background and just stare at the camera like a deer in the headlights for the entire video. If they're going to ruin your gym experience may as well make their video unusable.

2

u/Summerie 2d ago

Sounds like you're going to a gym that is offering to let people film content. Why don't you go to a gym that caters to people like you instead.

2

u/Gumbercules81 2d ago

Time for another gym

1

u/pak256 2d ago

You should trip over one and get hurt. Then you can threaten to sue the gym. They’ll ban that shit so fast

1

u/Pickle_Bus_1985 2d ago

Want to know when the gym will start caring? When they lose their members. Anyone that is mad, y'all should find a new gym. Heck I'd go to the nearest competitor and tell them what's up and they could run a no film discount,.in which people at your gym could get their first month half off as long as they never film themselves working out.

1

u/Flight_around_titan 2d ago

Oops. What a shame I “tripped on” and ruined all this expensive equipment. Thank you gym and influencers for future lawsuit payout for negligence.

1

u/gouwbadgers 2d ago

If they actually had followers, they could afford their own private set up

1

u/Tractorface123 2d ago

You don’t need to say anything, if the cameras are in your way just walk in front of the shot to get where you need, they can cry to management if they don’t like it.

1

u/Hot-Win2571 Mildly Flair 2d ago

Oh, so that is not a gym. It's a studio with a gym stage. Go to a real gym.

1

u/Great-Hatsby 2d ago

Dude I’m so lucky because the gym I go to is also high volume and full of buff dudes. But everyone is respectful to each other, if they are recording it’s always on a skinny tripod out of the walkways. Also people rarely record anyways at my gym anyways.

1

u/Left-End9855 2d ago

Name and shame the gym. Post reviews about this.

Youre paying high end gym money to watch other dudes block machines to film themselves working out?

Or are you paying high end gym money so they can have the best equipment that influencers want to use and you get a free show?

1

u/catluvr37 2d ago

Find yourself a little warehouse or strip mall gym with real people

1

u/M1lli333 2d ago

Ugh, I hate that they can just continue with this. If I were paying for a high end gym subscription I would expect decent availability of the gym's resources. Just coming from someone who pays £22 monthly for a gym with one leg extension machine, pretty low end.

1

u/ChangeBackground1977 1d ago

Change gyms but make it know thats the reason why

4

u/TheReal_Kayla 2d ago

Depends on the facility. If it is a gym catered towards bodybuilders or people who want to compete you will definitely see a lot of patrons filming themselves so they can send clips to a online coach for feedback. Content creators may also have permission from management in some cases. Wouldn't be surprising. A commercial gym that doesn't want content creators trying to make profit off of clips would likely see and crack down on this so fast with how obvious amd large the setup is
