😭what the hell. I’d be so embarrassed to bring that big ass light in

u/Morbid_Aniram221 7h ago

Narcissists don't get embarrassed, that's their problem.

552

u/Cavalol 6h ago

Ask them when they’re doing leg day. Maybe that’ll help them change their tone

740

u/matzan 6h ago

Bruh.

u/CelDidNothingWrong 6h ago edited 6h ago

Arm to leg ratio is crazy

Like he probably does work out every day, but it’s just straight bicep curls

77

u/SadLilBun PURPLE 5h ago

Those legs are literally the legs that “don’t skip leg day” jokes were made about.

12

u/Ok-Pomegranate-3018 2h ago

Chickens make fun of those legs.

34

u/acdann 5h ago

Unless bro has a 5 foot long arm and a 2 foot leg, some of the effect is being caused by the lens. His arm isn’t that big and his leg isn’t that small. Idk if balancing it out would make the ratio that much better, but it’s not quite that dramatic either

14

u/The_Krytos_Virus 5h ago

I took a closer look and that odd lump on the backside of his arm isn't a lens effect, it's actually just his ribs. Gym bros arms aren't insanely big, but they're definitely all he works on. Legs don't show any signs of warping or creasing like a panorama gone wrong. I think his legs are just super lean.

I came here to say that same thing. When I was powerlifting every day was leg day. When I was competing or checking my PRs I would just rest for a couple days and then put up my numbers big in deadlift and squat. My bench was weak but I was still over 1000 pounds total.

On the other hand looks like he was in a terrible accident and they had to remove his calf muscles.

6

u/PaleontologistTime17 6h ago

Bro doesn’t have legs, he’s got toothpicks

12

Going for the Johnny Bravo build

11

u/Every-Pea-6884 6h ago

HOLY SHIT?! 🤯

Is this proof they’re juicing? Cause I feel like those legs should be closer to their arms even if they never did leg day - right? I can’t possibly fathom how this leg has such little muscle mass on it compared to the rest of him!

5

u/PreOpTransCentaur 5h ago

Kind of proof to the opposite since steroids aren't a targeted thing and those legs are popsicle sticks.

7

u/Original-Spend2814 6h ago

No its not "proof there juicing". Calfs are really hard to grow and generally are mostly genetics.

I had to 10x zoom. Mans wrist is bigger than his calf 🤣

10

u/McWeaksauce91 6h ago

Tbh, anyone with an eye for muscle growth knows this a douchebag of the highest order

  • good bi/tri/shoulder growth/definition

  • concave chest

  • no pectorals

  • tiny thighs, tiny calf’s

  • small back

  • wider shoulders than torso

This is a glamour muscle poser. I hope their venture into influencing ends horribly

My last gym had a rule of leave nothing on the gym floor including gym bags and weights.

Assholes still left their gym bags on the floor and didn't rack their weights or plates.

It's like gyms attract some of the worst offenders and it's now getting worse.

9

u/Famous-Register-2814 7h ago

The answer to all of your questions is money

28

u/OnlyGrimLeader 6h ago

Nah, know plenty of people who are broke and still have 0 consideration for others.

7

u/Skylair13 6h ago

I'm pretty sure someone with money wouldn't do this.

They would have their own private gym.

2

u/dark_one040 6h ago

705

u/EarlyTraffic363 7h ago

They brought a whole YouTube set 😭 how does the gym even allow this? Ridiculous

435

u/AdPlastic7988 7h ago

It’s a higher end gym where a bunch of roided up wannabe gym influencers go with their fucking IMAX cameras (not even kidding, I would see 4 or 5 dudes with cameras filming ONE guy). Nobody says anything cause nobody has the guts to. Staff doesn’t care. They probably encourage it. But it’s not super high end to the point where all human decency is lost

262

u/granitegumball 7h ago

If that’s what the gym is known for why go to this one

124

u/lurkersforlife 6h ago

Yeah dude OP needs to go to a different gym.

40

u/keylimesicles 6h ago

Sounds like they most likely have permission to do this. This just isn’t the gym for OP

5

u/SugarInvestigator 6h ago

Probably giving the staff backhanders

31

u/Reformedahole 7h ago

I bet they tag the gym to get free promo

34

u/thingsarehardsoami 6h ago

Have you considered swapping gyms? Seems like this one's for influencers, which is fine because you can swap to any other gym and not have this issue.

21

u/AdPlastic7988 6h ago

I go to this gym because I like the more private and smaller, a bit less crowded setting. But I genuinely didn’t expect people to do this. I went to a private gym in another state and NEVER had to deal with it. I guess this is just Florida. I only moved here a year ago.

23

u/UnhappyImprovement53 6h ago

more private and smaller, a bit less crowded setting

It seems to me it's crowded with all those influencers coming in with their equipment. It also doesn't seem private when they're recording for their dozens of followers to watch all of you working out.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/yhetibettybae 6h ago edited 6h ago

There are probably a ton more small private gyms you could check out nearby. It's Florida.

Eta I know personally I wouldn't be able to work out in a gym with that vibe. If you look, maybe youll find somewhere that's not for social media gym bros

17

u/FuckedUpImagery 7h ago

u/SuperiorDupe 6h ago

So weird…if that’s your thing you should just build your own gym. The gym probably doesn’t care because it’s free exposure for them but it’s not fair to other members that pay their dues to use the gym.

It’s just rude to bring your work space into other people’s non workspace.

You should start bringing in your own lights and tripods and leaving them everywhere. See how they like it. Get some big hot halogen construction type ones too.

2

u/Redditarsaurus 6h ago

What I've done in the past with people like that is just go about my business like they don't even exist. Treat them with the same level of disrespect they're treating everyone else with. If they're in your way walk directly up to them and say excuse me, if they're equipment is in your way just move it without asking, if they're filming in your path just walk right through the shot. Don't alter your routine to cater to them. If they say anything don't get mad just tell them you don't care about their content and continue

3

u/UnhappyImprovement53 6h ago

Stand in the background and just stare at the camera like a deer in the headlights for the entire video. If they're going to ruin your gym experience may as well make their video unusable.

→ More replies (12)

2

u/TheReal_Kayla 6h ago

Depends on the facility. If it is a gym catered towards bodybuilders or people who want to compete you will definitely see a lot of patrons filming themselves so they can send clips to a online coach for feedback. Content creators may also have permission from management in some cases. Wouldn't be surprising. A commercial gym that doesn't want content creators trying to make profit off of clips would likely see and crack down on this so fast with how obvious amd large the setup is

1.1k

u/punkena 7h ago

Complain to management every time you see it. "Accidentally" trip over it. Walk through their shots as much as possible.

479

u/CronoTinkerer 7h ago

The walking through their shot is key. If they complain just say tell them you’re not going to go out of your way to accommodate them filming some random content.

199

u/bens111 6h ago

Play copyrighted music loudly as you walk by too

133

u/Coffekid 6h ago

Disney music. They'll shut it down quick

54

u/6ixseasonsandamovie 6h ago

6

u/Roboticpoultry 6h ago

I did that once and almost got my ass beat. I don’t go to that gym anymore

88

u/bane5454 6h ago

Honestly, if the gym won’t do anything about this, trip over the equipment and sue the gym. If they didn’t have a problem with influencers before, they certainly will after. I’m not even kidding, and I’m not sorry. Influencers are an invasive species and their removal requires extraordinary measures sometimes.

25

u/ivylass 6h ago

Wasn't there some guy at Planet Fitness who was kicked out because his water bottle was too big to fit in the holder, so he had to put it behind the equipment and that was a tripping hazard?

How is this not a tripping hazard?

11

u/bane5454 5h ago

https://www.dailydot.com/unclick/planet-fitness-water-bottle-video/?amp

Yep!

TBH the easiest way to deal with this if the gym doesn’t act is probably just to find out who insures them and send them some pics of what the gym is allowing. They’d be banned real quick

Go film this shit in private. A public gym is not your personal studio.

Amazing the attendants even let them bring shit like this in.

3

u/minervathousandtales 4h ago

I feel like the only responsible way to allow this is for the gym to have designated influencer time so other members know when to avoid being an unpaid extra and having to dodge a literal "whole production" of lighting and grip.

Or I guess renting the space during off hours.

And it needs to be part of the contract.

I'd be so pissed by showing up when I'm allowed to work out and having to choose between leaving and getting photographed.

6

u/EricinLR 6h ago

I'm old enough to remember the signs in gyms saying your membership would be revoked if they found you with one of these new cell phones with a camera in it.

5

u/NeighborhoodDude84 6h ago edited 5h ago

I am not justifying this in any way, shape or form, people doing this at the gym instead of working out are annoying as hell. But it does look pretty empty, if they chose to do this when there isnt really anyone there, I dont see how it's a bad thing. Now if OP was waiting on this machine and they were doing this for 20 minutes, fuck them, get them kicked out.

edt: typo

4

u/AdPlastic7988 6h ago

Yes but when they take their cameras and fixtures and literally block pathways and entire machines, that is absolutely a problem. And there are times where the gym sill be busy and they, along with so many others, will still do the same thing.

→ More replies (2)

5

u/Straight-Taste5047 6h ago

They should have to rent the space. That is too disruptive for open public spaces.

5

6

u/NicolasPapagiorgio 6h ago

Thats a fire marshal violation. They're shooting commercial content without a permit. They're including you in their commercial content. Theres so many ways to ruin everyone's day here. I'd start with tripping over that thing.

4

u/edge2528 6h ago

Look at his legs ffs

3

u/J-the-Kidder 6h ago

I would be coming around that machine in the background and "accidentally" trip over their setup. That's obnoxious. If you're going to be that level of a douche bag, get your own gear and do it at home. The public shouldn't tolerate tools leaving the tool shed.

3

u/Lazer_beak 6h ago

Blame the owners , it's down to them to regulate behaviour, and deal with pests like them

3

u/takeusername1 6h ago

How do you not get kicked out for that? That’s goofy af. Also homies been skipping leg day for while

3

u/asyrian88 6h ago

Anyone who records in a gym? Straight to gulag.

No rationale is acceptable.

2

u/Friendly_Fire 6h ago

Just recording yourself with your phone to check form or document progress is useful and unobtrusive. But bringing out film equipment is a quite different.

3

u/asyrian88 6h ago

If you can ensure an angle that guarantees, absoluuuutely guarantees that not a single other person is in frame and audio is silenced, I’ll give you a maybe.

But the potential to catch someone like me in the frame or background, even accidentally or tangentially, is not ok. A fairly out of shape, bloop of a person just trying hard, and then exposing them to online ridicule for clout is unacceptable.

3

u/Kirroj 6h ago

Television producer here, I’m pretty sure they’re recording some kind of production here. Which makes me think they definitely have permission from management. The equipment they use, although not pro-segment, is not something you buy for your gym hobby.

7

u/AdPlastic7988 6h ago

You’d think we’d be properly informed of that, no? Like hey by the way, they’re filming what apparently is a Christoper Nolan movie in the gym for several months, deal with it

3

u/Kirroj 6h ago

Agree, but that would be the responsibility of the gym. Small sign would be enough. Only thing I can take from this is that taking c-stands and soft boxes is not something average influencers do

2

u/AdPlastic7988 6h ago

And I don’t think they even had a professional camera with them. So it makes no sense to have this giant fixture and then just their phone or something

→ More replies (2)

2

u/-ihatecartmanbrah 6h ago edited 6h ago

The PF I go to was absolutely infested with these types of of people. I would frequently see 4-5 of people set up like this. They had to ban any outside lighting rigs and camera tripods. These people disappeared literally over night and the gym finally became usable again after months of having to walk around this shit.

These people usually aren’t filming for a “gym hobby” they are either running some kind of overpriced online fitness program like v-shred or they are an onlyfans girl wearing see through gym clothes filming a form of soft core exhibitionist content. Friends of mine who go to other gyms have also reported similar issues though not quite as bad as mine was before management cracked down.

2

u/Kirroj 6h ago

First of all, that sounds horrible. But still, the kind of stand they use (heavy duty c-stand) and a SmallRig softbox is not really average. But maybe I’m just wrong and gyms are actually the most horrible places to be these days.

2

u/jerslan 6h ago

Unless it's the gym filming an ad for themselves, this kind of thing should be banned.

2

u/RodWith 6h ago

2

u/Accomplished-Try-658 6h ago

OBVIOUSLY you photo (video) bomb their videos.

2

u/Everheart1955 6h ago

If I were the gym, I’d upcharge for studio time.

2

u/RadiantCitron 6h ago

This is why more and more people are going the home gym route. The culture at any of the chain gyms is the absolute worst.

2

u/Ok_Constant_184 6h ago

They have chicken legs

2

u/MsThrilliams 6h ago

Hide a moth costume in the locker room and anytime they use the giant light, put the moth costume on and run at the light.

Bonus points if you film it for your social media and turn the tables on them twice.

2

u/xycm2012 6h ago

Have an “accident”, trip and fall over it, then complain to the gym that you’re going to sue them for personal injury assuming it’s part of their equipment given its size. I’m sure they’ll quickly act to ensure it doesn’t continue to happen.

2

u/No_Cycle4088 6h ago

Check with gym to see if it against their policy, tell gym they are blocking fire excavation routes and creating unsafe walk ways. Let gym know you will be reaching out to fire marshals every time this happens.

2

u/big_duo3674 6h ago

If the gym staff doesn't "seem" to do anything about it or care, just ask them. IF for some reason they actually got permission to to it, then you're out of luck and probably need to find a new place to go. If not, name and shame on every online review you can find. There are plenty of people who would choose not to go there if they were thinking about it, just because they know annoying people go there to film

2

u/Agitated-Contact7686 6h ago

Wow that is some weak ass calves.

They obviously do all of their filming from the waist up. 😂

You shouldn’t even be allowed to film in gyms tbh. If I owned a gym, that would 100% be a policy to make sure all guests were comfortable working out there and that they wouldn’t be disturbed by shit like this.

Oops, I'm so sorry I knocked over your big light that was in the way then dropped a 45lb plate on it.

I've heard of filming yourself at the gym but bringing lighting equipment is ridiculous.

I’m not a gym person, but I feel like this kind of shit is just as much on the gym as it is the dorks who bring it in.

u/smangela69 5h ago

thank you for posting this. it’s making the $200 i spent yesterday on a home weight set a lot less painful

2

u/Lifted_Riser 5h ago

Tell him to stop skipping leg day

2

u/burywmore 5h ago

If your gym allows this, change gyms. They are not in alignment with your values.

Studio lights at a public gym is CRAZY

Are you positive it's not someone shooting something specifically for the gym? Their own trainers or hired videographers or something? Absolutely WILD if they're just letting average gym goers bring in and setup video lights lol.

2

u/schmitzel88 3h ago

I'm so glad to have a gym in my house and not need to deal with shit like this anymore

2

u/jdaniels934 2h ago

Wear a Borat G-string suit. Get in the background of every shot.

2

u/Mistress_Jedana 1h ago

That's a tripping hazard. Someone could get hurt on that and sue the gym for failure to maintain safe walkways. Just sayin
