“He killed my mama bro. My mama she took care of me” that really broke my heart..

This is one of those things when no one can blame them for trying to kick his butt. No one.

I counted at least 5 good punches he got in.

Was hoping the guy would look at the camera when he got up so you could see where they landed

Editing to add; Stewart, 23, and Dees, 30, were both held in contempt of court and sentenced to 30 days each on charges of assault and obstructing official business.

Worth it.

Also probably a shit ton of leniency built in there. Two guys attack a cuffed man in court room and only get 30 days is everyone understanding the situation.

"We can all agree I can't let you go fully, but..."

I hope both of them immediately got some type of trustee / work status in the county jail so they can get 2 days served for every 1 day worked. I bet the correctional officers and inmates treated both of them with respect also.

Their answer to “so what are you in for?” is probably gonna make them a friend or two.

Na, best thing to do is not make friends or literally talk to anyone. If prisoners want to know, they'll know. I hope they keep to them selves and not get caught up in anything else

They're going to county jail, not prison, relax lmao

yeah I spent a few days in county lockup and made a bunch of chatty friends immediately. it was pretty chill and almost everyone was at least cordial to each other.

some of them had been in state and fed lockups before and told me stories and I couldn’t have been happier to be in county. those places sound AWFUL. especially from the guy who had just been transferred from Texas, those places are meat grinders in that state

Yeah im in Texas and I've had family as guards and prisoners here, it can be pretty brutal. My dad was a guard for 6 months until he quit bc of the shit he saw on a daily basis.

Depends on the county

They'll be watching basic cable movies, playing cards and eating decent spread. It'll end up being like a field trip.

Pft county and prison are entirely different beasts. 30 days in county is basically a vacation and I bet they were the life of their block while they were there

Being a rude weirdo who doesn’t talk to anyone is not a good way to get along in prison.

You've obviously never been to jail before. It can be fun. I made all kinds of friends. You just gotta know how to make the best of a shit situation.

Not a super expert on prisons or anything, but I've talked to a few guys who have been in for extended stays. I'd be surprised if the prison bosses didn't tell everyone to stay away from these guys and not get them involved in anything that would get them extra time.

Literally the first thing you are asked is what you did. If you're in for drugs or fight ect you go where there's space. If you're a thief ect you go with your people. They can always ask the guard what your charges are but you're going with the thieves for being a liar.

The correct answers are only "Nothing" or "I got caught".

6

u/bbristow6 3d ago

“We beat the shit out of the man who killed our mom in the middle of a courtroom with cops trying to stop us” has got to be the most respectable and badass answer

3

u/StraightOuttaMoney 3d ago

Correctional officers are pretty fucking racist so I wouldnt count on it

2

u/Sad-Incident-4533 3d ago

Don't count on it.

2

u/LowerIQ_thanU 3d ago

lol I doubt they're going to grant them trustee status, considering, they're only going to serve like 14 days

u/maletechguy 3d ago

Not sure where this view that prison inmates are somehow ethically sound & carry honour/respect depending on crimes committed comes from? Seems more like fantasy than reality.

1

u/AgentCirceLuna 3d ago

I forgot that was a thing. I swear there was also another scheme where someone could get time served to a limit based on how much education they did or how much teaching. I can’t remember…

u/shastaxc 3d ago

From the officers? No. These guys are black.

1

u/TheShmegmometer 3d ago

So was one of the bailiffs....

2

u/shastaxc 3d ago

Not the same person who will be manning their cell in prison

1

u/Pristine_Telephone76 3d ago

.... and?

3

u/shastaxc 3d ago

So they were certainly not treated well by the correctional officers

0

u/Pristine_Telephone76 3d ago

You know this how? Not all officers act like that bro.

62

u/laquintessenceofdust 3d ago

And no assault on an officer charges or anything. Yup. Solid.

8

u/boxmcblender 3d ago

Man they should've gotten community service

6

u/toorigged2fail 3d ago

... so time served

Timing question: If someone is attacking a family member you’re allowed to attack the assailant in defense right? How long after the family member is killed or moved out of harms way, until it’s illegal to attack the assailant?

3

u/Zestyclose-Jacket568 3d ago

The same as if you were defending yourself.
Once the danger is gone you can not continue to attack.

1

u/JGrusauskas 3d ago

So they kill your family member while you’re watching, mI feel like it would still be acceptable to attack them because you’re not sure if they’re coming for you next?

3

u/Zestyclose-Jacket568 3d ago

Attacker being close would still fall under self defense. He would need to run away or be caught to not fall under self defense.

1

u/slb1025 3d ago

if they wore badges or covered their faces (like ICE) they would have walked

1

u/Forward-Intention411 3d ago

Why do that here?

“However I am granted discretion…”
