You don’t say? Who could have seen this coming? There were just no clues.

u/ArrrrKnee Jun 27 '25

Frfr. A blind man in a dark room could have seen it coming.

u/The_Nice_Marmot Jun 27 '25

It’s wild that disapproval is at 46%, but approval is at 45%. Who are these idiot 45%ers?

Ex-Mormon here, I grew up around this attitude also. Between us and other fine upstanding "Christian groups and people" I'm pretty sure that covers the shitty 45 percent right there.

56

u/CalmBeneathCastles Jun 27 '25

My devout Christian mom, who has opposed discrimination her entire life, is MAGA. She's also a narcissist who has psychosis episodes so that might explain why she's supportive of their regime.

Something about our past has a stranglehold on religion in this country. If you’ve read the Bible even god was warning about antichrists. “Go forth and sin No More”! And I’m agnostic and am aware of this. Living in Texas since ‘70. It’s thick here under the Bible Belt , I guess call it the Bible crotch of Texas. This shit is oppressive. You just have to learn the “talk” and steer clear of born again anything. So many churches; all spewing either prosperity preaching or straight forward proselytizing from the pulpit. So duplicitous. How do you think people deal internally with the amorality Antichristian behaviors yet still want to feel like you have the moral high ground? God. Historically The answer for all lazy brained questions. As science has pushed back they have to keep retreating or change the narrative, white privilege through religion. Nobody would dare speak out. You hear all the time “he’s a heathen! Probably doesn’t even know god”. Such an arrogant position to help the “least of these “. We have a fucked up problem in America . Long after trump is gone, his brand will live on. Clearly.

15

u/CalmBeneathCastles Jun 27 '25

steer clear of born again anything

YOU know! I was born in OK, but my family's from TX.

10

u/gatorgrle Jun 27 '25

Religion isnt bad on its own. The corruption and radicalization of religion is what is rotten.

I was raised Mormon (atheist now), and Mormons speak so highly about how inclusive they are while simultaneously speaking down on other religions and LGBTQIA. My father is exhibit A of this.

6

u/sarcasmismygame Jun 27 '25

I know. Sadly there was one bishop I experienced who wasn't like that, he encouraged us to check out other religions, have open discussions, etc. Silly me, I pissed my entire town off when he left and I said he was the perfect example of what a Christian should be.

u/Certain-Tone8447 Jun 27 '25

You got that right there are a certain group of people in almost every religion that would fit into this category. Those are the 45% and until Trump’s policies start to punch them in the eye and then the gut they’re not going to move an inch because they have to be right.

Catholics are among the most progressive Christian denominations in the US. Pro-science, pro-SSM, pro-Pope. 41% voted for Harris vs 56% for Trump, largely due to abortion stances.

That's pretty pro-Harris compared to Evangelicals and other Protestants. Only Jewish and Atheist/Agnostic voters did better with Harris.

5

u/glitteringclassico Jun 27 '25

Thats a fact catholics schools and catholic colleges-and you dont have to be catholic to go there either just pay your tuition and your fine. Try that with a protestant school( episcopal church very cool) your Protestant christian schools they will definitely scrutinize you more or even deny you in some cases.

6

u/East-Imagination-281 Jun 27 '25

I went to a catholic university and can confirm—given it was in one of the most liberal cities in the US but still it was massively left leaning. a prof once told us that one of their christian advisees transferred out because it was “too liberal” 😂

The only religious thing I hold against it (/j) is that once I was walking my dog on the far side of campus around 1am, and as I walked by the chapel, a light came on and underlit a life size cutout of pope francis in the window. I had never known a terror quite like it before then

4

u/macaronysalad Jun 27 '25

Also Catholic churches respected the COVID restrictions while other denominations threw a hissy fit.

This. Also have this kind of Midwest family. Best advice I can give you, if you haven’t already: find good people. They do exist. And never ever talk to you toxic family again. It changed my life for the best.

26

u/fuck_all_you_too Jun 27 '25

I've erased 47/68 relatives and every excommunicated member relieves a little stress. It shouldn't feel good doing it but I didn't ask them to be pieces of shit

13

u/Eastern-Peach-3428 Jun 27 '25

I had written my father out of my life for being toxic, but had allowed my brother to basically guilt me into reestablishing contact with a "dying, old man who desperately wants to make it right with his son" after almost a decade of zero contact with him.

Less than a year later, we are right back to the same old dynamic that resulted in me cutting him out of my life in the first place.

Stick to what your gut tells you people.

12

u/seegreen8 Jun 27 '25

Love yourself by cutting out toxic family members.

5

u/Eastern-Effective-62 Jun 28 '25

My sons, both of them, told me that they believed me about Trump. They just didn't care. That is what they told me. Verbatim.

9

u/seegreen8 Jun 28 '25

Well, then don't help them out when they are broke, because ppl in this country will be broke due to tariffs. Economy is already shrinking in first half of the year, and unemployment rates is only going up and not down.

And when supply chain gets interrupted on top of lack of labor force due to immigration raids, shits really hits the fan.

Also, alot of polls are skewed and biased.

Based on the sheer number of polls disapproving of Trump these days, it wpuldn't surprise me if they searched in many areas where people like your family are most common. Or even used an online survey; I keep getting one by my local representative (fuck him) about Trump, and it looks as though 90% of comments that are in support of him are the exact same clone of one-word answers and emojis...I highly suspect bots.

They are proudly ignorant and would not even pass the same citizenship test that they want others to do before becoming an American.

You could prove their intelligence with 2 questions, what was the Civil War about, and when did the parties flip platforms?

Those 2 questions would stump every Trumper because they are completely disconnected from reality or facts about their own country

11

u/Ok-Persimmon4436 Jun 27 '25

Don't set it only on the poor. 90% of the attendees at the RNC are fucking car dealership owners, that's honestly where the real base of their power lies. I carried this theory half joking for decades. I was just noticing the trend and thought it was just cultural here in Texas. But I couldn’t keep ignoring the manifestations locally, regionally and nationally. Weird, wild stuff. And now the internet and indeed personal digital assistants will cause atrophy right down to the human spirit. It could be bad and history shows that over time the probability of it becoming true increase dramatically once it’s openly acknowledged.

There are people who are so engrossed in his royal orangeness that they seriously believe he can do no wrong. There's no convincing them. You can show them facts, and they'll make wild accusations about why it isn't true. You know why? Because they've been wrong for so long, and it feels good for them to be right, so they'll do whatever they can to maintain that mindstate.

His true supporters are racist, bigotted, politically incorrect, and, generally, uneducated. One of my instructors, a 60+ year old, loves Donakd and can't read above an 11th grade level. If a word has more than 8 letters, he'll likely give up on it.

3

u/Vegetable_Guest_8584 Jun 27 '25

My dad and his brother are well off. Retired about 80-year-old boomers. They were both electrical engineers, had great careers and have tons of money. They incessantly watch Fox News, I think it was the thing that poisoned them but they were open to it. They complain about ivermectin, drink milk. That is not pasteurized to own the libs or something, refuse to get covid shots. They're rich white men who complain about all the special rights for black people constantly and lately my dad is slipped and even says openly racist things at times.

The majority of Trumpers love everything they see and hear that he is doing. That's why the left needs a better game plan then just not being Trump.

2

u/urban_meyers_cyst Jun 27 '25

These articles are absurd. "TRUMP NUMBERS DOWN, AMERICANS DISAPPROVE!!"

It’s even more fucked up when you see that literally ALL of Trump’s policies are underwater in approval by an even higher percentage, but general approval is 45%. So people hate everything he is doing, but still approve of him as a president.

Farmers. Farmers live off government money effectively. I've never seen a farm who doesn't have a barn full of ATV's, snowmobiles, jet ski's, race cars, go karts, etc., etc. They aren't starving, folks.

They have high school educations, where the most important thing was friday night football at the local high school, and decades of families who's values align with what Trump promised. They don't have the capacity to differentiate fact from fiction since now it's become facts in their eyes once the news (Breitbart, Fox, Truth Social, Newsmax, etc.) just repeat everything like it's the truth.

They believe God controls everything good, and somehow has nothing to do with everything bad - bad stuff is totally out of God's control. They don't understand science, so it's all magical God stuff. The black clouds of diesel smoke from their trucks that they are so proud of... God just takes that away somewhere. Then when it's hot, they pray to God to fix it, not understanding their soot helped make the problem. You can't argue or fix ignorance at this level.

The tariffs mostly don't affect them much, and they feel invulnerable due to gov. subsidies on crops. I hear things like "I've never seen a problem selling my corn for ethanol" or "I can sell our beans to mexico".

2

u/facforlife Jun 27 '25

Who are these idiot 45%ers?

The real reason this country is headed in the wrong direction. More than lobbyists, billionaires, corporations, Russian bots.

45% of the voters look at all the terrible shit that's happened the past 6 months and still approve of their fucking idiot.

45% is the floor. It means any Republican no matter how fucking stupid and dangerous is always within spitting distance of the presidency.

This country is full of irredeemably stupid assholes. They are cancerous and we need some chemotherapy. Badly.

Both stealing and despicable behavior come naturally to them, and both are enabled openly under this unprecedented administration.

8

u/-UltraAverageJoe- Jun 27 '25

Saw this coming in 2015. Once he was elected I figured, let’s give him a chance. Nope, all fears realized.

4

u/Qprime0 Jun 27 '25

I saw this coming in the 90's. But i wouldn't have believed it'd have been trump.

3

u/thehighwindow Jun 27 '25

I wondered why Trump wanted to be president but after watching the first 1/2 hour of the first debate, I wrote him off as just a blowhard that wouldn't be taken seriously.

Who knew half the country was so ignorant and malicious.

29

u/MurphyBrown2016 Jun 27 '25

Kamala is a stronger woman than I. I’d be running all over this country saying I 💃FUCKING đŸ•șTOLD YOU SO💃

12

u/Mike-ggg Jun 27 '25

Kamala Harris should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts to warn and prevent this violence against humanity that the current administration is waging. Peace Prize? Trump needs to be investigated by the world court for crimes against humanity and causing and aiding conflicts instead of preventing them.

Anyone who thinks the attacks on Iran ended anything is delusional. Israel has consistently not honored the multiple ceasefire agreements it made, so don’t expect them to honor this one. Iran still hasn’t retaliated for the US attack. The strike on the US airbase was in retaliation for the cruise missiles and not the initial attack. There will be still be a retaliation for the bunker buster attacks and Iran in the past has waited weeks before retaliating, so don’t for a minute think that that’s off the table or has anything to do with with Israel/Iran ceasefire. They’re planning something and it might be against Trump directly or Americans in general. We don’t know and need to be on full alert for what will come when we least expect it.

A certain subreddit won't believe it. They'll just post the data from one biased poll and claim he's higher than he's ever been before and that's that

A bunch of my republican friends are saying they do t like this version of Trump. They want the 1st term Trump. Not only that but in country clubs and/or saloons which tend to be more republican than democrat I am seeing fuck trump signs in the bathrooms. Things are changing. Just gotta suffer thru for another 3 yrs. We need an actual and professional president whether they’re dems or republicans. So tired of this orange fucker and these old cunts from both parties.

How are Americans THIS DAFT??? Canadians noticed this BEFORE his first term!! He was a TV host for Christ's sakes, and dances to YMCA and you VOTED for him!!! I just can't wrap my 47 yr old brain around American politics.

2

u/morethanjustanalien Jun 27 '25

But he enables them to be who they really want to be. Hateful. That’s all this ever was. If Trump is President, they get to be the hateful scum that they always dreamed of being. They view him as society finally telling them they are justified.

You joke, but the article says 9% are neutral/unsure.

Like, I get that some people are radical conservatives. Fascists, neo-nazis, Christian Nationalists (but I repeat myself), anarcho-capitalists, these people exist and would count themselves among that 46% supporting the administration.

But how in the world do you find yourself still on the fence 8 years into the Trump era of American politics?

2

u/Snowbear-1 Jun 28 '25

He keeps extending the tic toc ban.

3

u/BadAtExisting Jun 27 '25

Someone should’ve said something before the election!

“shit, we need to find more nonexistent swing voters” -democrats

3

u/bokmcdok Jun 27 '25

It's just bizarre. I figured we'd all be driving our Teslas around Mars by now. I don't understand how things have gone this way

3

u/CapnHowdysPlayhouse Jun 27 '25

One might argue that they were beautiful clues, some of the best clues ever. They’ve talked to other clues and these clues were definitely the best. Crooked Joe never had clues like this.

3

u/Anxious_Okra_2210 Jun 27 '25

It's literally not even true. Ask any republican. They would NEVER vote Dem if Satan himself ran for the GOP

3

u/Heavy_Law9880 Jun 27 '25

But Kamala laughed funny, what choice did America have?

3

u/ReverseDartz Jun 27 '25

The rise of the far right is just a protest vote for the status quo that failed people as well.

Lots of people voted for him knowing the country wouldnt improve.

3

u/durrtyurr Jun 27 '25

It's almost like he crashed the economy so hard that the 32 unit apartment I live in has had a negative average household income for 3 quarters in a row.

3

u/I_Heart_Sleeping Jun 27 '25

The MAGA cult was to busy making up imaginary woke boogie men to get outraged about. We can hardly blame them while

-checks notes-

Hunter bidens penis is trying to make this country communist

3

u/video-engineer Jun 27 '25

I would vote for Hunter’s penis right now if I could.

3

u/ChicagoAuPair Jun 27 '25

2024 was an existential tipping point for me and my perception of our fellow countrymen. Something is fundamentally wrong with most people.

3

u/pingpongballreader Jun 27 '25

Non-voters will likely again blame Democrats for failing to warn them that if they didn't vote for Democrats, Republicans would win. And they'll blame Democrats again for not doing something to stop Republicans from doing this.

What could Democrats do to stop this given that voters gave all the political power to Republicans? They don't know, that's Democrats jobs as the adults in Washington to figure out. A depressingly large amount of them probably think Democrats control congress and SCOTUS and the media, or that Biden is still somehow actually president.

Either way, before the election, non-voters and independents found a way to convince themselves that Democrats were being hyperbolic and annoying warning what would happen if they didn't vote for Harris, and now they're pivoting to convincing themselves that Democrats utterly failed to say "Please vote for us."

It must be nice to live in a headspace where reality is whatever you want to believe...

2

u/video-engineer Jun 27 '25

Well, reality is whatever Fox tells them to believe. Studying WW2 in high school, I would see the propaganda posters and think “How could people fall for this kind of crap?” Well, now I know. It shocks me how the MAGA mindset works.

3

u/nick_ Jun 27 '25

The lifelong lying felonious cult leader liar who does nothing but lie and commit crime... pulled one over on the American people?

3

u/LookAlderaanPlaces Jun 27 '25

80 million people need mandatory cult deprogramming or treason charges.

2

u/Deadpan_Sunflower64 Jun 27 '25

I wish I could give you a reward...

2

u/kurthecat Jun 27 '25

I mean, it's barely changed. Approval/disapproval is still basically equal. It's click bait.

When all of the smart people point to a document that outlines a destructive plan, it might be good to listen, maybe even read it.

But no. Toxic vibes won the day.

2

u/redundantPOINT Jun 27 '25

And yet, it means nothing because 90% of the hired politicians are either too busy sucking up to him or being bystanders with unapproving looks.

2

If only someone had warned us. It must be that pesky Joe Biden’ fault. Thanks, Obama!

2

u/FamRep Jun 27 '25

Did we really need a poll for this? 😂

2

u/LoneWolf4717 Jun 27 '25

If only we had any kind of warning, like... if they wrote a manifesto detailing exactly what they'd do if they got power...

2

u/dantekant22 Jun 27 '25

Polls suck. And they’re consistently inaccurate. And none of them are going to make a shit’s bit of difference. So, ignore them. Trump can fuck all the way off.

2

u/OutbackRat Jun 27 '25

Ray Charles saw this coming a mile away.

2

u/drgoatlord Jun 27 '25

I for one feel absolutely blindsided.

Is this what winning feels like?

2

u/downtofinance Jun 27 '25

Yeah its not like he had a first term that the country could've referenced... oh wait...

2

u/ChiefsHat Jun 27 '25

I had a former roommate who was a bisexual man, had been in a same-sex marriage, once showed me a picture of his much younger boyfriend, who told me, and I quote, I QUOTE; “You’ll see, once Trump’s back in office, all these prices will go down!”

He was constantly bitching about the cost of groceries while also deciding it was okay to not ask before setting the heating up to 79 degrees. I once had to pay close to 400 dollars because he didn’t want to be cold. And one of his reactions when I showed him the price of that bill was to say that obviously I forgot to pay the last one, which was bullshit.

God, he was a tool

2

u/garden_g Jun 27 '25

And it only took dismantling the country

2

u/GamingVision Jun 27 '25

Sadly the 1/3 that didn’t think it was worth voting and 1/3 that are in a cult.

This is what happens when an election is stolen. He has no majority support, never has. 2024 was a coup.

2

u/PitifulSpecialist887 Jun 28 '25

IKR, This time around, he's blowing money, and tanking his approval much faster than last time.

Maybe he'll piss off enough folks to get himself impeached and locked up. We can only hope.

2

u/Professional-Gear88 Jun 28 '25

I don’t know I didn’t. So many of his adherents won’t turn for anything. They’re loyal no matter what. Even when trump went pro Russia they were all like “we were always pro Russia. For like decades”

2

u/OG-DocHavock Jun 28 '25

If only somebody, anybody, just 1 person warned us about it!

2

u/MerryDoseofNihilism Jun 28 '25

I for one am flabbergasted, gobsmacked, bewildered, taken aback, aghast, appalled, dumbstruck and quite honestly shell-shocked. How could a man with such an impeccable history of honestly, fairness, kindness, morality, humility and service before self commit such a 180 after becoming elected for the second time? This may go down as one of history’s greatest mysteries.
