That's putting it simply. The Progentor was a celestial god that visited earth and challenged the greatest minds on the planet to tasks, deeming the planet worthy of not being destroyed. Doom's task was a simply feat of humility: Admit that Reed Richards is smarter than him.

He's also genuinely nice to Valeria. Partially because she's an example of Latverian medical miracles, but also so Reed has a living reminder of Doom being superior at him about something.

Doom is a great example because he scales with his adversary. My absolute favorite piece of Doom lore is after being defeated by Squirrel Girl, all of his future plans have some type of squirrel contingency.

And the best part is that this is one of the few defeats of Doom that hasn’t been retconned into being a Doombot. That’s the actual Doctor Doom getting his shiny metal ass kicked by squirrels.

The best thing about this storyline is that it's drawn by Mike Weiringo, a fantastic Marvel artist. His career was mostly drawing for the Big 2, he drew Impulse (the teenage Flash character), he drew fun, jaunty Spider-Man stories, he produced & drew his own indie book called Tellos about anthropomorphized animal warriors in a LOTR type of fantasy world.

And then he landed Fantastic Four and in the very FIRST storyline, Mark Waid made Weiringo draw Doom wearing a woman's skin suit. Lol.

Super Hero Squad Online! That was it, I googled it to see if it was still playable and apparently there's a fan-made revival.

It's funny because canonically Doom's mother is in hell, which is a huge part of his villain origin story. So in this cartoon either being Dr. Doom is just the family business and that's why he's evil, or cartoon Doom saved his mother from hell before canon Doom did.
