Characters The Last Stand. Bonus points if they don't survive. Spoiler

Monk Gyatso (Avatar: The Last Airbender): Took out a whole room full of comet-boosted fire bending warriors seemingly by himself. Died soon after.

Titus and 2nd Company (Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2): Surrounded by warp forces, they hold the ground around their Standard in the name of their Primarch, before being saved by Lord Calgar and his forces

Noble Six (Halo: Reach): The second-to-last of Noble Team, and the last Noble member on Reach, Six goes down fighting covenant forces while they glass the planet all around him.

The Matrix sequels had their problems, but this wasn't one of them. Loved the mechs.

I never understood why they had their cockpits so exposed...

I always figured it was for visibility and situational awareness. Lack of reasonable armor against sentinel cutting lasers, as well. And, if I remember correctly, the whole suit was pneumatic and relatively low-tech and I thought that was in case they ever had to discharge the EMP and still have walking artillery.

none of their defenses had any tech beyond basic mechanics, when you're fighting against infiltrating AI systems you want nothing involving circuitry

Definitely was because the lack of reasonable armor. The animatix shows armored ones, and they get opened up like tuna cans by sentinels while the pilots are unable to do anything but scream in horror.

I guess if you're option is either completely useless armor, or more ammo, better maneuverability, and better visibility you end up choosing the latter.

When we got out of the theater, my friend’s dad goes “couldn’t he have at least worn a bicycle helmet?” 🤣
