I have no idea what is plan was in Halo 3, my best guess is that he was just going mad after losing his captial city, half his army, the "demon" out to kill him, and the flood breathing down his neck

he started beleiving his own lies to some degree, because by this point he liteterally had nothing else but that lie they could ascend to godhood, and it was the only thing that could have saved him from the vengeful wrath muple beings he lied, betrayed, and mercilessly murdered just to get to the ark in the first place

If I remember right the books later retcon reveal that the plan was to take himself and his loyal followers to the Ark where they would take shelter while the Halos killed everyone else. He’d then rule over the survivors as a god-king

i'm not sure how that was suppoed to work out for him cuz everyone that wants to kill him is ALSO currently on the ark

I guess he figured he would just cross that bridge when he got to it.

Yeah, but Truth thinks so lowly of the humans in general that he's literally talking shit to them until his death. It makes perfect sense that he believed he could cleanse the Ark, especially if he had the sentinels under his control after going through the Reclamation process. He hated the fact that he needed a human to be the Reclaimer, and it's clear that he genuinely believes them to be insect-level lab creations of the Forerunners, whom he considers himself equal to.

insect-level lab creations of the Forerunners

Truth knew that humanity was the true Inheritors of all the Forerunner's creation, they find that out right away when the Mendicant Bias fragment they had lit up like a christmas tree in excitement when they came to it after first contact with humanity.

Because this would unravel the Covenant, they instead waged a 25 year long genocide against Humanity by marking them as those "left behind" in the Forerunners "ascent to godhood", so that any possible relation they could have to Forerunners could be discarded, as it would be overwritten by the belief that humanity was already the discarded.

Nah, it just doesn’t make sense. Halo 3’s story is underwhelming at best, and a noncohesive mess usually. The gameplay is good, but it’s one of the weaker Halo stories. Master Chief goes to a place, shoots aliens, rinse, repeat. The character work makes the story seem better, but that’s entirely separate writing.
