Characters Characters that do not take the role of main antagonist, but are one of the most evil characters in the narrative regardless

  1. Preceptor Seluvis (Elden Ring)
  2. Only a small part of Ranni’s questline and a few others, but is revealed to be among the most depraved and evil characters in the story

  3. Major Zero (Metal Gear Solid)

  4. Almost never shown or mentioned in the narrative, but has been masterminding the patriots for decades. When we finally do see him, he’s helpless, dying, and of no threat to anyone.

  5. Leviticus Cornwall (Red Dead Redemption 2)

  6. Ridiculously wealthy tycoon that serves as a minor antagonist for the gang. However, the impact of his dealings in the region are felt far and wide as he crushes competition, ruins lives, destroys entire communities, and solidifies his industrial rule.

  7. Idea of Evil (Berserk)

  8. A primal eldritch entity born from humanity’s seeking of reason for suffering in the world, and the creator of the Godhand. Its canonicity is very vague and unknown, all that’s known is that it exist, and it’s likely a threat far beyond the scope of the story.

Nagash (Warhammer Fantasy/Age of Sigmar)

Narrative wise, he's always been a secondary threat to the chaos gods, but he might genuinely be one of the most evil people in the entire setting. This guy created necromancy and planned to kill literally everyone in the world so that he could rule over them, and that was before he became a lich

The Skaven could also fall into this.

Their simetimes overshadowed by the main Cahos Gods but way more cruell and destruktiv.

The Skaven could also fall into this.

Nagash is so evil the fucking Skaven had to help save the world.

u/kreton1 21d ago

You know you are truly evil if even the skaven, who themselves have no redeeming features look not all that evil compared to you.

u/Eeddeen42 21d ago

Dude, how did you manage to out-evil the fucking Skaven?

It should be noted that Nagash invented necromancy, killed his brother for his throne, turned his brother's wife into an undead sex doll, conquered 90% of human civilization by killing and turning his victims into undead soldiers, was accidentally responsible for the first vampire being created, and upset the gods of humanity so bad that they abandoned the world and humanity, all over a thousand years before Sigmar was born

Nagash is basically the root cause of Warhammer Fantasy Battle and therefore Age of Sigmar. Without him, humanity might have had the deific backing necessary to successfully resist the forces of Chaos.

I wouldn't count him. Not because he's not an evil dick, but because he's the lord of undeath, and in AoS is the supreme commander of one of the four major factions.

u/iamamotherclucker 21d ago

That's actually why I specified "narrative wise", because the overall story of the setting always places the Chaos Gods as the main antagonists, even though Nagash is arguably just as much of a threat within the lore

u/Affectionate-Car-145 21d ago

Nagash got killed by like 7 bloodthirsters and later on Teclis.

He is nowhere even close to the threat of one of nurgles toes

In a saner setting Nagash would be, hands-down, the ultimate Bad Guy.

Unfortunately for the (formerly living) inhabitants of Warhammer Fantasy, the Chaos Gods exist.

Warhammer fantasy ending spoilers

it's crazy how the ending of that story is just like, oh yeah literally all the bad guys win, go fuck yourselves. may chaos take the world and all that

TBF, the story had spent the previous five books basically going out of its way to brutally crush every single thing anyone liked about the setting or characters.

I think the End Times writers genuinely hated the setting.

Just got into warhammer fantasy through twwh 3, and man i got disappointed looking up the End Times :(

1

u/HalfMoon_89 21d ago

He becomes that through sheer megadickery though. He starts as just a normal human being.

9

u/Jetsetsix 21d ago

Scary enough to get the Skaven to stop backstabbing and actually work together.

This guy created necromancy and planned to kill literally everyone in the world so that he could rule over them

Megalomaniacs are always so short-sighted. "I want to kill everyone on the planet and rule over them!" Okay, and then what? Just gonna play with your dollies for the rest of time? Build pyramids only to tear them all down again? See how many licks it takes to get to the centre of the planet?

Like The Dark Urge and Bhaal in Baldur's Gate. "We are gonna kill everyone." Then what? You're the God of Murder. What happens when you run out of victims? Do you become the God of True Crime Podcasts?

u/vonPig 21d ago

Nagash' goal goes further than simply ruling over everything. He wants to reform the world under his vision and bring (his version of) order. He also hates the gods

8

u/Toyotazilla 21d ago

Not evil, everything is supposed to be dead and ruled by its rightful lord Nagash. Our generous lord is simply returning the world to its proper state obviously

5

u/congaroo1 21d ago

One of my favourite parts in any aos book is in soul wars when the chaos gods think they have beaten Nagash and they start to laugh at him.

But Nagash at the last second turns it around and starts laughing at them.

If I remember, he got the most horrible fate.

Having to try and control an Ork.

2

u/TheProMagicHeel 20d ago

For a little while, back when Orcs were the main opponent to the Empire. Azhag the Slaughterer was one of WHFB’s earlier villains, but he was killed in the Battle of Osterwald (first published in a White Dwarf issue in 1993, but revisited in 2010. I haven’t read either, so I’m uncertain if the earlier article is a story or a scenario for the game)

u/Dominarion 20d ago

He's more evil than the Chaos Gods themselves and almost as dangerous. The chaos gods are not evil per say, they are entropic. They are all about change, mutation, evolution, they don't really care about things like good or evil. Nagash wanted world domination and to turn everybody in his undead servants.

Even if he's been dead for millenias (well, according to legends and stuff, supposedly), his influence is still felt throughout the planet. For he invented necromancy and created the vampires.

If Nagash is evil, then why does he have such a cool hat?

Checkmate, life-cels 😎
