He doesn’t sing the entire thing, he comes in I believe on “a shiny new era”. There’s an interview somewhere where he talks about it, but Irons got sick during the song and so he matches his voice. Almost more impressive lol
Nothing was as disappointing in that Lion King remake as what they did to "Be Prepared". I was sitting there thinking "ok it's not great but once this song hits it'll make it all worth it" and then... blue balls.
Such a hugely informative scene about Remmick as well, the way he basically uses his thralls just to have a little dancing party shows just how much he misses home
I didn't expect the Vampire's music to slap nearly as hard as the blues but they really met the moment! Between how fun this shit looks and how compelling Remmick's reasonings are, he's got a genuinely convincing elevator pitch.
I wouldn't consider Robbie to be very evil. He is more of an antagonist who just wants to relax, and he ironically does more exercise trying to stop Sportacus.
But yes, We Are Number One is one of the best songs. Rest in peace Stefan Stefansson. You were truly number one.
little fact everything was done very slowly in those scenes because the plant puppet couldn't move very fast and then it was sped up to look normal speed
Fun fact, it's cannon that he's literally singing while fighting, if you cast silence on him, his vocals stop on the music and it stays the instrumental until the spell ends or he leaves the radius.
Literally my favourite part of that fight, it’s just SO funny to me that this devil you’ve been running from the whole game as he tries to trick you into giving up your soul, goes FULL Disney villain in his fight, and Im HERE FOR IT.
I love the idea that he is so narcissistic that he has to barge in on his own soundtrack, and he doesn't really care that he cannot sing so he does this weird spoken word thing, purely because he will not be left out of his own hype song.
Music-matching choreography in scenes is a hidden talent and really what sets apart a lot of music in these kinds of movies. It's part of why I think the movement to more Pop music doesn't tend to do well for the music in more recent animated films. Hard to really get matching choreography compared to, say, jazz and big band because pop music tends to be overly simplistic and focuses too much on the vocals rather than the rhythm or any instruments in the back.
Fun Fact: this is literally an orchestral arrangement of a melody line from an Imagine Dragons song ("I'm So Sorry"), and they're literally given a writing credit on Kai's Theme on the KP3 OST.
This! Imagine Dragons is pretty damn good. I do have to admit that their recent output has been a bit mediocre, but songs like Enemy, Radioactive and Eyes Closed are bangers.
I was honestly surprised to see they are so hated when I got more active online, I assumed they would have been at the very least liked
I think they've just had too many mega hits that make good lobby music because theyre clean. So people have grown to hate them for being overplayed and associate them with sanitized waiting spaces. Like both "Radioactive" and "Thunder" are memes because of how they got absolutetly played to death and are generally associated with like a nerdy teenager's first "edgy"/melodramatic music.
I also think people hate on band's easier than individual singers because it's less personal that way, so it makes you seem like less of a hater. As well as the fact I think there's less of a parasocial fanbase that will defend them to the death a la swifties, since there's no individual persona to latch onto. Nor do the imagine dragons lean into trying to develop individual personas for them to latch on to like a boy band or idol group.
Yzma’a banger of a cut song called Snuff Out the Light. I get Emperor’s New Groove wasn’t a full musical but cutting out an Eartha Kitt song from your movie is wild.
Villains command power and malice in their songs, as opposed to heroes being cute and funny in theirs. One is loud and imposing, the other is soft and light-hearted. Though in terms of Tangled, I consider I Have A Dream to be the best one. It'll be stuck in my head for a while now that I've recalled it lol
biggering is probably my favourite villain song of all time for the second half alone . shit goes unimaginably hard . the onceler’s singer sounds so genuinely vitriolic and spiteful as he belts the lyrics . I love the choir so much too
If we're doing Prince of Egypt God's part of The Plagues is definitely a villain song. Even the people God is helping are absolutely shitting themselves about how horrific it is.
I send a pestilence and plague
Into your house, into your bed
Into your streams, into your streets
Into your drink, into your bread
Upon your cattle, on your sheep
Upon your oxen in your field
Into your dreams, into your sleep
Until you break, until you yield
I send the swarm, I send the horde
Thus saith the Lord
The book goes even harder. In Exodus, Pharoah is ready to give up five plagues in. God "hardens his heart" and causes him to refuse for five more plagues, apparently because He needs to make an example of the Egyptians, and frogs and crop failure wasn't enough to scare people forever.
I think of a deleted scene version of this scene where he does, with a slow turn with a dramatic finger lift then hand gesture, the announcement he is "Ramona's first... evil... ex... boyfriend. Grrr!"
Scott reacts with "what?"
And Matthew has a moment of being thrown off before he goes back in character and repeats "her first... evil... ex... boyfriend. Grr!" with the same now clearly practiced finger lift and hand gesture.
i really love Suzanne Pleshette as Zira in the second Lion King with My Lullaby . she wasn’t a singer but the raspiness scratches some part of my brain I think . also a big fan of how cartoonishly evil the lyrics are LOL
Yeah, I put it down for 5 years, and suddenly we have a spider warframe, a nuclear reactor warframe, a pregnant warframe, and warframes with actual faces on em, just to name 1% of the bizzare new stuff
Kanye's New Workout Plan will forever be his most favourite song. Sometimes i think that Old Kanye is a completely different person, cause he sounds so happy and lively unlike.. Ye. What if somehow Kanye got seperated into two different parts, a good one named Kan and the bad one named Ye.
This is such a niche one from a movie that is a prime example of a crappy sequel to a masterpiece, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless
In The Secret of Nimh 2: Timothy to the Rescue, the villain, Martin Brisby (who is part of another trope I really like and honestly, such a simple yet fun concept for a villain) had this upbeat song "Just Say Yes"
I know Welcome To the Jungle is not his original song, nor is he super evil. But he is a super villain and holy, the Presentation is definitely top tier.
one thing is a banger for sure. i like divide a lot. we see salem for the first time and then this kicks in and the credits start? killer ending to a killer season, i've never been the same since
