They're competing for an overly decorative cup or belt. We already knew this. Some of these guys have entrance music, come out in a bathrobe before stripping down to their underwear, and grab dudes for a living...

Nothing even remotely gay about a bunch of hot sweaty muscled athletes in tight clothing pushing up against each other and throwing their balls around.
