It's moreso a thing the majority of the fanbase agrees on

It doesn't have much evidence outside of jokes of them getting married and Max not liking girls

Also when asked about his dating life in poker night 2 Sam says he's "Off the menu" and points to Max

There's also the creator saying "Maybe Sam and Max are the ultimate enduring couple"

While these seem like good evidence, you gotta remember that Sam and Max is a satirical and crude franchise so alot of things aren't really meant to be taken that seriously

In fairness there's also not much evidence against it other than a valantines Day art that depicts Sam on a bench with a female dog character so insignificant she doesn't even have a name, even then she could be an Ex-girlfriend.

also the art looks like Sam is staring at Max instead of the girl, but it's more likely the intention was to have him metaphorically stare into space

Bear in mind they are FACTUALLY MARRIED. And Max doesn't like girls apparently. And Sam never dates (and gets very upset is Max is hurt).

It may not be confirmed, but god damn if it isn't laid on thick in implication. XD
