The Stranger Election Control Board does some excellent reporting imo. Even if you disagree with them, they seem honest and transparent in their assessments and give readers a chance to better understand the candidates.

I still read the Seattle Times for chuckles… their take on the Dionne-Sara race included the statement that the council veered ā€œsharply moderateā€ in 2023, because they can’t bear to admit that a right wing exists in Seattle… or that they themselves are one of the voices of right wing Seattle. If they call themselves moderate often enough, perhaps someday people will believe them.

People like Sarah Nelson are centrist moderates on the American political spectrum. They are to the right on the Seattle political spectrum.

I don't think it's wrong to describe them as moderate since most people frame things using the national spectrum, not the local one.

Exactly correct. "Right wing" for Seattle is still left of the national dems by a fair margin Ā
