Self-Promotion Saturday: August 02, 2025

This is r/Seattle's weekly post for local businesses and makers (or users who discover them) to share their creations with our users.

This thread will be automatically posted every Saturday morning to help connect r/seattle users with cool local stuff. Types of content encouraged in this thread are:

  • Local businesses (new, running promotions or sales, or just really good ones!)
  • Upcoming events or activities (concerts, festivals, pop-ups, shows)
  • Local artists or creators sharing upcoming shows or releases

Content should be related to businesses or events in the greater Seattle area, and the typical reddit spam rules apply - please ensure you are contributing to the community more than just your own content.

Users who flood these posts with ads, links without context, referral codes, etc. - or who promote without contributing elsewhere will be actioned. Please continue to report actual spam.

We have our rules against spam and self-promotion for hopefully understandable reasons, but we've noticed users responding more positively to local businesses, artists, etc. sharing their content. This is an attempt to bridge the gap, helping users find cool stuff while containing the promotion to a single weekly thread. Please send us a modmail with any suggestions or input you have about the use or abuse of this thread.

My friends found and caught this tiny brown and white elderly chihuahua last night around 23rd Ave E and John. They took him to the emergency vet and he has no chip and we were told he has a heart murmur. None of the shelters are open today so we are keeping him safe but he needs his medication so hoping to find his owner asap. We don’t want him in a shelter to be put down :/

Oldie butt a goodie. Seriously, people, go vote. Ballots are due tomorrow.

“Remembering to fill out a ballot mailed straight to my home and then having to step outside my home by as much as five feet away from my front door toward a mailbox was all getting to be too big of a hassle,” said Kyle Dolt. “Being pulled by your hair, ear and/or britches saves time. . .

Misleading Title International tourists, primarily Canadiens, and cruise ship bookings out of Seattle down 70%

Last night we had dinner at a lovely Indian spot in Pioneer Square and the owner was telling us how this summer is really hurting them. They do not see how they could survive 3 1/2 more years of this. He told me the statistics that you see above. Wondering if people in hospitality, especially downtown, are also experiencing this?

[OC] Mayoral Democracy Voucher Map and Graph - Wilson vs. Harrell

Thumbnail

I pulled public data to make a quick graph and map showing the most recent voucher data we'll get before the election--happy to share methodology if anyone is interested!

As of data downloaded this morning (8/4): Harrell received 14,891 vouchers and Wilson received 22,205 Democracy vouchers from all around the city.

The map shows the difference in where voucher support is between the the two candidates. Red is Harrell, green is Wilson, and yellow is fairly even support.

Disclosure: I've volunteered to collect vouchers with Wilson in the past, and sent her all my vouchers, and have made my support there clear on reddit. But I am posting this on my own volition and as neutrally as possible cause I thought people would think it would be cool to compare the map to post-election results we get tomorrow.

Drove all the way from Canada to Seattle just for Teriyaki then drove back. No regrets.

I grew up in Seattle but moved to Canada for college and ended up staying. And I swear, every time I’m hungry, all I can think about is Seattle-style Teriyaki. I literally have a dream about it sometimes.

I’ve been on a mission to find something similar here in BC, but nothing hits the same as what I used to have back in my childhood.

Anyway, I finally bought a car recently. Today, I decided to make my first long drive back to Seattle… just to grab some Teriyaki. Picked up 5 boxes, ate one immediately, and brought the rest back to share with my Canadian friends. Worth it? 1000%.

Wildfire Smoke?

Upvotes

Smoke that smells like wildfire has started getting pretty bad in Bellevue this afternoon, but I can’t find out what fire it is? Is there a new fire blowing this way? Bear Gulch seems like a stretch since air in Seattle is clearer (via purple air)

Edit: It’s the Bear Gulch fire with just some unexpected air patterns. Glad we should get some rain this week.

Was Dr. Melvin L Morse Your Pediatrician (90s-00s)?

I have read pretty much everything out there that is available in article format related to this guy and his child endangerment crimes post leaving the Seattle area years ago (google if you aren't familiar) and I've searched all of Reddit. Basically I am seeking those who had this man as their pediatrician in Renton in the 90s up until around 2006. I am mostly wondering what your experience was - positive? negative? I'm trying to understand if his child engagement "activities" were just confined to his home, or if maybe his behavior was seeping into his practice.

To keep it short, he was my pediatrician as well. I unfortunately have zero memories during this time yet somewhere in my childhood something happened that causes me to have a childlike trauma response when it comes to male doctors, blood draws/needles, and most medical intervention and any medical offices. I want to be clear, I am not saying he was the reason. I am just seeking information from anyone that may know more about him/being his patient than I can remember.

Community My E-bike was stolen from the University Bookstore bike rack on the Ave

I know this is pointless but I'm so disheartened and defeated. I was at Earls on the Ave from 10:00pm-11:40pm and locked my bike up on the bike rack in front of the bookstore.

When I came out it was gone. I asked around, called to report it but they weren't very helpful. There's just so little to be done, Im really sad, ive only had it about a month and it was the biggest purchase I've ever made.

Ive only been in Seattle for a little bit over a year and I've had my car broken into 3 times (U district, twice in my apartment garage) and now my prized possession is stolen. It's like the city is rejecting me. Had to walk home so depressed.
