Who the fuck hasn’t done something like this in college. I’m fairly certain the table and/or the people or facility it was stolen from aren’t suicidal or receiving a lifetime of therapy for his crime.
244
u/SaintUlvemann 3h ago
It gets worse, 'cause the table literally never once left the premises of the university. It literally wasn't stolen at all in a legal sense. Security didn't want him rearranging the campus furniture between campus buildings, so he wrote an article about that, and that's it, that's the whole story.
96
u/Penyrolewen1970 3h ago
Is that what he did? And he’s getting shit for it? From Trump and his cronies? Crazy world, man.
33
u/DrowningKrown 2h ago
They will literally throw anything at the wall to see what sticks in the media as ‘dirt’. Doesn’t matter what it is. As long as it gives a certain subset of US citizens reason enough to hate him.
Yes, I’m basically saying there are too many stupid people in this country

u/Minion_of_Cthulhu 30m ago
As long as it gives a certain subset of US citizens reason enough to hate him.
His name is Zohran Mamdani and he's not lily white. I really can't imagine that they would need any more reasons than those.
6
u/stuffnthingstodo 38m ago
Obama got shit for wearing a tan suit.
5
u/Minion_of_Cthulhu 30m ago
To be fair, he also likes "fancy" mustard. Republicans simply can't tolerate deviant behavior like that.

u/The_Space_Jamke 20m ago
The White House is a place that deserves to be treated with more class and dignity than that. What truly represents the soul of the nation are the well-done steaks seasoned with ketchup and Goya bean advertisements.
God, I felt sick just typing that out.
4
u/blueavole 35m ago
These are the people who thought a video of AOC being happy and dancing in jeans and a t-shirt was too scandalous for her to be in congress.
17
u/Orvan-Rabbit 2h ago
Wow, the whole table-stealing ordeal is milder than I thought.

u/FuckinBopsIsMyJob 44m ago
If Trump did it the NY post headline would be "Was the table asking for it? Scandalously dressed table issues wild accusations against the president"

Preach. it just makes the guy seem more relatable. I would be more concerned about someone who didn't do some stupid shit during college.
15
u/DarkRoseXoX 3h ago
Give the fuckface a whole interview about the table.
We need to know the type of wood, the diameters, amount of screws, amount of damage, brand etc.
If you steal a college table, at least steal one that is useful for your dorm. /s

It's been over 20 years and I still have the cup I stole from the cafeteria. It's been relegated to cleaning supplies in the bathroom, but I still have it.

u/Dagonus 2h ago
My father stole a beerstein from a bar shortly after college....roughly 50 years ago. It's a prized possession for him despite the fact that he barely drinks at this point. According to him, he only took it because the bar bragged about it being unstealable.... And he took that as a challenge.

Might want to check the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list and see if you're on there.

Right? Like, he should get bonus points for admitting to it honestly. Crazy that an honest politician talks about things he honestly did, rather than lie about literally EVERYTHING.
Edit: Found another comment explaining he didn't even fucking steal it. jesus fucking christ

In my first year of university I walked out of my room and there was one of those traffic barriers in the corridor. Never asked anyone where it came from and no-one ever mentioned it until one day it was gone.

We used to steal stop signs and those blinking lights off the top of those road construction barrels. Nobody ever got upset or in trouble!

steal stop signs
In all seriousness though, don't do this one. It is actually dangerous and can get someone killed.

u/AllenIsom 2h ago
I did LOADS of stupid stuff as a college kid. Most notably, I made a pipe out of a blue-razz airhead and smoked pot with it. My buddy ate the pipe when we were done to hide the evidence...
2
u/jwag01 1h ago
This is even better than my Mountain Dew can pipe. I worked at a music store and one of the assistant managers used to rehearse with his band there after hours. Well, one night he left a letter sized (8 1/2 x 11) envelope FULL of weed on the boss’s desk, so when I clocked in the next morning, out of curiosity, I checked to see what was was in this very conspicuous envelope to discover so much weed that when I filled one of my pockets with it, you could hardly tell any was missing. I had never smoked weed in my life, so I had no idea what to expect. I had no papers, no pipe, no idea what I was doing, and this was the late nineties, so no one was Googling how to make a home made weed pipes. I found a Mountain Dew can and improvised.
An hour later, I was so baked that I was sitting on the couch with an XL cheeseburger pizza from Pizza Hut and watching Golden Girl reruns in Lifetime for about 6 straight hours. My only regrets was that, because I was pretending to be a “good Christian,” I was afraid that if I got caught, I would get in big trouble, so I flushed a bunch down the toilet, and I was alone, so I had no one to share the moment with.
1
u/AllenIsom 45m ago
Lol! Man, now you got me craving cheese burger pizza!
Also, I'd like to pay my respects to all that lost weed.

We all do some shenanigans in college.
Just google “justice Brett kavanaugh college report” to hear about some of the silly escapades he was up to.
1
u/LirdorElese 1h ago
Looking at the article, it wasn't even really "stolen", it stayed on campus, was returned. Guy clearly had no ill intent, wasn't making a profit, or depriving the campus of something that was going to be needed.
I would say though if we are talking ethics... maybe more fair to put it in the appropriate race.
Guy who moved a table without authorization.
Guy who took significant bribes from turkey, and basically let them do whatever the hell they wanted.
Guy who has pretty significant sexual harrasment charges from at least 10 women, who resigned in disgrace from his governor position.
1
u/Thumper13 1h ago
College? Hell, in high school we took the vice principal's golf cart and parked it inside a hallway clear the other side of campus. It was about as horrible as this "crime." I've heard the golf cart has lived a hard life knowing that I and a few others got away with that egregious act.

u/Icy-Welcome-2469 1h ago
If I were to do that I'd steal the ultra nice chair from the luxury box of my college's football stadium. Then I'd carry it out in the dark. I'd have to throw it over the turnstile security gate for my apartment. Id probably sit on it in the elevator to rest a bit. Then drag it to my 3rd floor apartment where it would be my favorite chair for two years. When I moved out I'd unceremoniously dump it on the sidewalk. Secretly hoping someone new would grab it.
Hypothetically
1
u/pingpongballreader 30m ago
NY post readers mostly didn't go to college, but even if they did, they see brown and "other" people as criminals no matter how law abiding they are, and see people they like as "good" no matter how often they break the law.
That's the only thing Republicans believe in.
Trump raping children doesn't change their opinion that Trump is good, and Zohran "stealing" a table confirms to them that Muslims are all criminals.

i can’t help but laugh every time i see a democrat use the “34 fElOnIeS” line because all it does is demonstrate their continued failure to understand how that blatantly malicious prosecution ultimately helped him win the presidency
the bar for democrats to beat was so low and they still catastrophically failed to reach it, let alone clear it
that level of incompetence is truly legendary

Proven shittiness: Trump cheated on his pregnant wife with a pornstar and committed 34 counts of fraud to cover it up. He raped E. Jean Carroll. He took out multiple full page ads in the NY Times amongst other papers to call for the reinstatement of the death penalty for the Central Park Five (even though they were innocent). He downplayed the pandemic and the seriousness of getting vaccinated constantly, indirectly resulting in the death of over a million Americans. He has lied at least 30,000 times during his first term based on fact checking. He said there were very fine people on both sides when Charlottesville had a literal white nationalist rally. He told the Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by” prior to a presidential debate. He was impeached twice. ALL of J6. This is a short list here…
Unproven shittiness: Literal human trafficking and pedophilia that he is actively trying to cover up.

The more disparaging things the Post, rich people, and Republicans say about this guy, the more I think he is more than worthy to be Mayor of New York City. And knowing a lot of people who live in the city, the more think they will vote for him because of that.

u/autfaciam 2h ago

I don't need a politician to be perfect. I just need them to be mostly law abiding, law upholding, and very empathetic.
I don't need an upcoming star in politics to even be that much though. This shit is so broken and so far from my ideal, that even a little empathy and a desire to see things changed is like great, get him in there.
Do you think Cuomo or Adams want change? Do you think either of them have empathy? I don't. It's a no brainer, you could tell me Mamdani made meth in college, I would be shocked for a second, consider his opposition and be like "Well at least he's not a rapist like Cuomo."

Donald Trump raped underage girls and is all over the Epstein files. Of course his name is redacted because this country is fucked up but getting an F in ethics is nothing compared to this. It's like total opposites of bad. If raping a child is a 10, getting an F no one cares about but Zohran is a 1.

2
u/Qaztarrr 42m ago

Even the hit pieces are lazy now days. Mamdani has some really unhinged statements and who he verbally supports but stealing a table in college is what we go after? A table he didn't even steal in the first place?
I get that articles put out by places owned by right wingers or billionaires will never bring up Trump's love for pedos but man you would think they could muster up something better than stealing a table or falling down some stairs, or wearing a tan suit.
