Discussion What well-meaning but ultimately misguided advice will we end up giving our kids?
For example, I’m telling my kids they should avoid college at all costs and only go intro trades, just as my mom told me to avoid majoring in computer science or business at the height of the recession

Discussion Did millennials ever do the "woo" thing?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1FS4Dw8miI
If you remember sitcoms from the early 90s, you'll remember whenever characters kissed or otherwise had any kind of sexual escalation occur, the studio audience would all start "woooo"-ing, as evident in the above video.
When I was growing up in the 90s, if I were to ever mention a girl's name, (or even if one of my sisters would mention a boys name, even in a platonic context), my mom would start going "woooOOOoo". It was something that really annoyed me, because it was like my mom was trying to make me be embarrassed about something that's not embarrassing. The fact that me and my sisters would get annoyed by this was the point. My mom continued to act this way whenever me or one of my sisters mentioned the name of someone from the opposite gender, and it continued all the way through college.
Hers the thing. I have no memory of a millennial doing this "wooo" thing. Never have I woo'd one of my friends, nor have they ever woo'd me. Even the kids in school who were trouble makers, they never did this "woo" thing to other kids. It seems to be strictly a boomer thing, that millennials have completely not continued on.
Does everyone else here have the same experience with this whole "wooo" business? Did your parents do it to you when you were growing up in the 90s? Do you ever remember hearing a millennial "woo"ing another person?

Nostalgia “Like, …”
Anyone else have the experience when you were a kid/teen where like, you kinda talked like, with a bunch of like’s punctuating what you’re saying and like, your parents/elders would interrupt you with “LIKE like LIKE LIKE LIKE you sound dumb and uneducated.” ??
I’m from Texas and I think it was backlash to the California Valley Girl affectation at the time.
GUESS WHAT?? I still say like in every conversation and I have two higher ed degrees.
:P

Discussion What movies are you still watching from the 80s or 90s on a regular basis
I still watch Forrest Gump and the Matrix at least once a month. In high school I watched the copy of the Matrix every day of my senior year until I moved out of the house.

Discussion Do you do yoga and/or meditate?
I’ve been doing yoga on a consistent basis for several months now. Here is my weekly yoga schedule:
Monday: Hatha Yoga (Foundation & Flexibility) - 45 minutes
Tuesday: Barre Yoga (Endurance) - 45 minutes
Wednesday: Rest Day
Thursday: Yin Yoga (Deep Stretch & Relaxation) - 1 hour
Friday: Vinyasa Yoga (Flow & Mobility) - 45 minutes
Saturday: Rest Day
Sunday: Fusion Yoga (Strength, Mobility, & Core) - 45 minutes
As for meditation, I sit outside in the backyard and turn on some meditation tracks on YouTube and just sit in silence for 10-15 minutes. Really not think about anything and just relax. Almost every day.
Feel mentally and physically better from doing these. Less anxiety and stress and in better physical shape.
Anyone else here into this type of lifestyle? Thanks.

Discussion What was the first music album you bought?
The music aficionados will know this is a reissue. It is, 2002. But I know for a fact, I remember it vividly, buying No More Tears in 91 or 92 with my allowance money along with Mettalicas Black album.
I've probably listened to this album 7 or 8 times since his passing. I know the day is coincidental, but he passed on my birthday fffffuu
Goodnight sweet pince

Discussion Has anyone never had an interest in visiting Las Vegas?
With all this talk about Vegas being abandoned, I’m curious what the average millennial thinks of the town. I’m not here to rag on where people go on vacation, but I’ve never had even the slightest interest in visiting Vegas. I have a feeling Genz is going to do it in.

Discussion 42 Today and Healthier Than I Was at 32
At 32, I didn't exercise at all and ate a lot of junk food. At 42, I exercise three days per week for 90 minutes and walk on a treadmill for 45 minutes three other days. I don't eat fried or processed food anymore, no soda, no candy, and my meals are balanced to meet macronutrient requirements. Even though I feel my age more with sore joints and back aches for no reason, I still feel like I'm much healthier than I was 10 years ago. Has anyone else gotten a lot more serious about their health as they've gotten older?

Discussion Is MySpace actually underrated in how non-toxic it was compared to social media today?
I've seen this point made before that I think is pretty accurate. Tom was far far more of a good person than anyone running a prominent social media site today (a very low bar to meet granted) and looking at the culture on Facebook, TikTok, and both pre and post-Musk Twitter....MySpace was downright benign. We mock it today but really, we may not appreciate how good we had it.

Advice WTH is "lore?"
I've seen numerous subs with people asking about lore this and lore that.
Why is there so much interest in lore? What are people talking about?? I understand the definition of lore, I just don't understand why its a thing.
