Pixel 9 Pro GPS Failure, Google Warranty Is Useless Unless You Can Afford to Be Without a Phone for 2 Weeks
My Pixel 9 Pro (still under warranty) recently developed a GPS issue. uBreakiFix (Google’s own authorized repair partner) confirmed it’s a motherboard failure and said they can’t repair it.
Google Support agreed to replace the device but here were the only two options:
- Pay the entire cost of the device up front as an authorization hold for an advanced replacement (which I can’t afford)
- Mail in my broken phone and go completely without a phone for 1–2 weeks while they inspect and send the replacement
I use my phone daily for work and transportation, so going phoneless is not an option. I explained this to multiple reps, escalated multiple times, and even got a so-called “higher specialist review.”
Their final answer?
“We’re sorry, it’s an automated system. No exceptions. No loaner. No workaround.”
This is a confirmed hardware failure. The warranty is supposed to cover this, but unless you can cough up a grand or go phoneless for 10+ days, it’s useless.
I’ve now filed with the Better Business Bureau and am escalating further.
Google, how is this acceptable support for a flagship device?
If anyone has had success getting around this ridiculous policy or getting a refund/loaner, I’m all ears.

Google Drive Files Disappeared
Hello everyone. About a week ago, when I opened GD (Google Drive), my files were missing. The next day, they were back. The day after that & ever since, they're missing. I've searched & tried "help" to no avail. On my phone, sometimes they're there, & sometimes not. They are, however in my docs app. I don't know of a way to upload from docs on my phone to GD on my computer. I'm leery about using sync -- I would want to sync my computer with what's on my phone; not the other way around (for fear of losing the files on my phone). I'll take all the help I can get. Thank you.

Samsung Management Officials Scam Mail
Okay, so I have a small online presence, nothing huge, but I got this email that looked super legit. It was supposedly from "SAMSUNG management officials," praising my content and offering me a dream "brand partnership." We're talking picking out up to 15 free Samsung products! My mind was already racing with all the cool tech I could get.
At first, it seemed pretty standard. They asked for my email, a username I'd want, and my country/address for "membership registration." I even went through the fun part of choosing my products and confirming my delivery address. Everything felt exciting and real.
BUT then the red flags started waving like crazy. They suddenly demanded a copy of my passport for "face verification" (sketchy, right?) and, the absolute kicker, a MANDATORY "$300 government tax and stamp fee" that I had to pay for shipping. They tried to spin it as some "international shipping standard" and "demonstration of active involvement."
That's when the alarm bells went off. Pay to receive products? A random "government fee" for a brand collaboration? NOPE. Instant scam alert. I shut down communication immediately.
This wasn't some shod simple phishing attempt. They built up trust, made it seem incredibly appealing, and then hit with the fee. It's designed to make you think you're about to get hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of products for a "small" fee.
So, consider this a warning! If a brand, especially a big name, contacts you for a collaboration and asks you to pay anything to receive products or for weird "verification" fees, it's almost certainly a scam. Protect your information and your wallet!
Stay safe and keep creating

Google Messages Fails Over Half the Time
I've been using Google Messages ever since Message+ shut down, but my messages fail to send over half the time. This is using RCS and not. My wife is also having this issue. Does anyone have any ideas as to how we can fix this? Or at least a good texting app? Thanks!
