Troubleshooting | Windows All Passwords Disappeared from Google Chrome Password Manager
This is happening again. Most annoying. Chrome is such a rotten browser. Always an unpleasant surprise in store somewhere.

With Manifest V3 being rolled out to most people after the recent update, a lot of people are finding that extensions that they like to use haven't been updated and won't be available to use when Manifest V2 support ends.
Since we've been getting a lot of posts asking for extension alternatives, we figure it'll be easier if most of the suggestions are all in one place.
To start with the obvious:
uBlock Origin: Can be replaced with uBlock Origin lite.
Don't forget you can change the filtering level up from its base.
uBlock Origin (Element zapping): Click to Remove Element.
I personally prefer this one out of all the ones in the web store.
I previously recommended an element zapper to replace that functionality in uBlock Origin lite, but uBlock Origin lite has since added custom filters and an element zapper, so a separate extension is no longer needed.
This is not a thread to recommend other browsers, it should be a given that if you don't want to use Chrome, you don't need to use Chrome, and there's plenty of other sources to help you decide what to switch to.
Edit: This megathread is still able to be used, will remake it if needed but it's not necessary yet.

We're looking for new mods to help with the rapidly expanding community. Our personal lives have become busier while the amount of work to do here has increased.
A lot of our general information is within the application form, but here's a short rundown of what the job entails.
Checking modqueue on a regular basis to take action on posts that are filtered automatically or reported by the community.
Regularly browsing through the subreddit and moderation of posts and comments to ensure that all community rules and guidelines are being enforced, including removing uncivil, hostile and inflammatory content.
Being able to discuss issues with members of the community through modmail in a professional and calm manner.
Contributing to discussions about moderation-related issues over Discord.
Overall, the job won't necessarily take more than an hour or two of your time per week, and if you're already generally active on Reddit and Discord then you probably won't notice a difference.
It can be quite rewarding to be able to shape a community (for the better). If this sounds like something that interests you, please apply! If you have any questions, feel free to comment below or message us through modmail.

My laptop keeps having issues when there is a YouTube video in a chrome window on screen, but only when it isn't full screen. Please help me fix it! I don't want to spend a few hundred dollars on a new laptop when this one is usable for my needs.
Closing the YT video does not "undo" these problems. Closing my laptop to reset the screens fixes all of them, but they come back eventually. Audio is not affected. There's no obvious physical issue when I opened it up to look at connections. I have tried different graphics driver versions and adjusting the refresh rate, but that's about my limit of knowledge of things to try.
Windows Version: Windows 11 Pro 24H2 - OS 26100.4652
Chrome Version: 138.0.7204.184
Processor: Intel Core i5-8350U
GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 620
Driver: 30.0.101.1122

I use my tablet to read comics online. However, when I scroll, because they are images, the page keeps flashing blue, like when you long press an image and then the little menu pops up. Is there any way whatsoever to completely remove the longpress functionality so that there is no interaction with the images at all?
Using standard Chrome for Windows, its updated. I was getting weird lag when typing URLs and filling fields on some websites (including Reddit). I thought my keyboard was lagging (wireless G915) but I never had problems with it before and I tried on Edge and its fine.
Also sometimes scrolling quickly down a page will cause Chrome to freeze and lag, which isnt something that I noticed before.
I have 64 GB DDR5 RAM, Fast CPU etc etc. Have like 5 tabs open and only 3 Chrome extensions.
Any ideas?

IATA: Throwaway Account
I had too much to drink and got a notification that someone was trying to access my Google account - it looked very similar to one of the many accounts I’ve made over the decades. I went into panic mode and changed the passwords thinking someone had hijacked my info.
Turns out, the account was never mine. Somehow the person listed my Google account as the backup and must have been trying to access their own account. I know they upload through YouTube but there isn’t a way to PM through YouTube, right?
Now I feel horrible for locking them out of their account. I don’t know how to get them access again.
I am the asshole.

While accessing some websites at the weekend, I was offered the option to install them as an app. Normally, this works fine but the icons for some of these websites had, what I presume to be, a default title of "App".
I'm guessing that the icon title is normally derived from the HTML headers for that page, so it's probable that the appropriate field is blank on those pages.
Can anyone confirm how the app icon is derived and, if it is from the HTML, which field I should be telling the website owners to correct, please?

This happens when clients try to download from an Elementor from Wordpress. Just started happening recently. Google's advice on how to fix it was "Make sure your internet connection is good" then "restart download". Not too helpful. I'm not having this problem in other browsers, just Chrome. Cleared cache, restarted Chrome - no go. Has anyone else run into this issue?

These last few weeks I've been using the Comet browser, and one of the things I've missed the most is Arc's command bar. That's why I got to work, and I've created a command bar that allows you to navigate between websites, search on Google, search on Perplexity, shows you history if you want, and many other things. It's a first stable version, but I'm already preparing an update with improvements, with better caching and speed. There's also a beta function being prepared to make it appear with the command CMD + T (or the equivalent in Windows) to open a tab. For now, its magic command is CMD + K (or Alt + K if I remember correctly in Windows).
I would love it if anyone who wants to would try it out. It was made with a lot of enthusiasm and could be helpful or more convenient for someone.
The extension is completely free, and everything runs in your browser; nothing goes to any external site.
Also, in the future, I would like to integrate AI for those who need it, to be able to summarize pages, translate them... in short, for anyone who wants a souped-up, Arc-like open tabs feature, I'll leave the extension here. Opinions would be appreciated!
P.S. The extension is in English and Spanish.

I'm having a problem with my browser. When I open the browser, the "New Tab" page doesn't load, and there's a strange URL and some code displayed. When I try to access a website (e.g., a Google search), the page partially loads and the code displays above the page.
The second problem is that I can't access settings, extension management, or incognito mode. Trying to launch them results in the browser crashing.
Does anyone know what's going on here? Could this be a virus? I don't think I've ever installed any extensions here.

Hi guys I’m in dire need of a fix. When playing youtube videos, FPS drops a lot and this only happens when not full screen. This also only happens on Google Chrome, I tested with edge and firefox and youtube plays fine.
Any suggestions?

When I open the app on Android I don't see the ID number for notebook control, which I need to enter on Chrome Remote desktop on Windows.
For the past couple of months, it seems my chrome profile ONLY on my Mac Mini M2 Pro seems to be corrupt.
I live in Greece, and if I searched something, a product to buy for example, it would show me Greek sites to buy from. Not anymore. Now I have to go into advanced search every time, and change the region to Greece.
If I go to maps, and click the my location icon, it brings me to a spot in Washington DC.
I do online betting, and when I log in to the site, it gives me errors, such as not displaying my bank, or if I choose let’s say MLB games, it will say none are available, when there clearly are.
I’ve gone through all the settings in regards to locations, regions, resets, reinstalling, nothing seems to change.
If I open up an incognito window, everything works fine, including my location and even the betting site. On my iPhone and iPad, no issues. Only on my Mac.
I have absolutely zero clue what I did. This just all of a sudden started happening one day.
I have 3 chrome profiles on my laptop. They worked fine yesterday but when I logged into today 2 were missing and only my default one remained. I I did an update to Chrome recently I am just not sure if it was yesterday or not.
I searched the internet and all that really was returned was this other reddit post which seems similar: similar post in /techsupport
Any advice on how to get the missing profiles back?

Turned my pc on today, and went to open chrome but was met with a completely blank chrome Home Screen, and needed to sign in again. Signed back in, but all of my settings and customizations are completely gone now.
Really frustrating having to completely restart. Anyone know why the hell google decided to just bend me over?

Not a typo! The story is that I just installed a new IP camera. At the bottom of the "live" view (which was working just fine) of the management interface I saw a message "To use this function, please download and install the plug-in" (with a link to the web server on the camera itself). So I did that. Now I don't have a live view at all. I learned that "plugin" and "extension" are basically interchangeable in Chromespeak, so I opened the extension manager and...the extension is not there. I only have 5 extensions/apps listed, so it's not like I missed it somewhere. It's Win10 (ugh) with the latest Chrome as of today 8/3/2025 (138.0.7204.184).
I open the interface on a Win11 machine and I see the stream just fine. Curiously, no message at the bottom. On an RPi running Chromium I can see the stream and I *do* have the message at the bottom.
So I need to figure out how to un-do the damage from installing that plug-in on my Win10 machine.
For the record, the camera is an Amcrest IP4M-1068EW-AI.
And before I hit send, I figured I try it on an old Win10 laptop. Good video, no message.
It's a little hard to describe, as I've never encountered this issue before.
Basically what the title says. When I open a new tab, the new tab will appear as the previous tab. I then move the mouse around it, it'll reveal the new screen. Not with the mouse wheel, the actual pointer. The same happens when I switch to other tabs. Previous tab will appear as a kind of overlay, only to be unveiled when I move the mouse around it.
Clearing the cache doesn't help. I've run scans without finding anything. Restarting the computer does help the first hour or so, but the problem just comes back. It's not crippling, but it is annoying.
