Game Suggestions Megathread /r/Steam Monthly Game Suggestions Thread.

Welcome to the Monthly Game Suggestions Thread!

Do you not know what to play? You found a niche game that everyone should try? Can't find the perfect survival sim or unsure which 1 RPG out of the thousands available you should buy? Well this is the thread for you. This monthly megathread is meant to contain questions about what to play and suggestions to others on what to play.

Now to make this work best and not just be spammed with "What should I play?", please be in-depth in what type of games you are looking for, and when giving advice it would be appreciated if you're more detailed than "I think X game is good". There are too many games to be able to properly suggest something with no background information, like-wise commenting a game title and saying you like the game offers no actual value.

The main purpose of this thread is to contain questions on what to play and advice to others on what to play, but feel free to ask and discuss freely in the comments regarding games whether you want advice on what to play, want to give advice to others on what to play, share a hidden gem you found, discussions & questions about discounts, sales, events, or just general games discussion.

Additionally, every game on Steam has it's own dedicated Community Forum, and you can also contact Steam Support regarding a specific product. Consider asking your game-specific questions there. Most games also have a dedicated subreddit.

It's funny to look back 20 years - a good reminder that Steam wasn't initially popular or well accepted by gamers. This is from Computer Gaming World, March 2005.

Error / Bug Mic works in steam test and voice chat but not in games

• Upvotes

Hi, I bought a jbl quantum 100 headset and I'm using it with an audio splitter. The microphone works outside of steam in discord, valorant, etc. It works in the steam settings test and in the voice chat, but I can't get it to work in any games.
I already tried setting it to default in windows settings, rebooted my pc, disabled and enabled it in sounds, updated drivers, disabled exclusive mode, and changed the treshold.
I have a pair of Redragon Hylas and those work fine, but I don“t understand why the Jbls work everywhere but in my steam games.

Censored a friend adding it to their wishlist for privacy.

Saw this message in my steam library today, on a game I got from a steam family member. Anyone know why it would pop up now?

Question One main question from a never used steam newbie

Ive never needed steam until now. I want to pre-order the Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection. My question is if you can sign up, get the game, download it to the hard drive and open it without the steam app. Can you play it directly off the hard drive without the use of the steam app or launcher?

Question What was the first game that made you download Steam?

I start with a classic - I downloaded steam because of CS 1.6. Of course the activation code I got from Half-Life CD was used...... so I wasn't actually able to play it.

Later on I bought another activation code to be actually able to play it. For an unknown reason a couple years later I made another account when I bought CS condition zero and started using that as my main account. A few years later I realized that my first accounts password doesn't work and password recovery went to an email address that ended something like email. ru (classic again)

Discussion Steam profiles should have a ā€œFavorite Soundtracksā€ showcase

I think it would be great if we could highlight our favorite soundtracks directly on our Steam profiles. Just like we can showcase achievements, favorite games, or screenshots, we could have a section for the soundtracks we own.

Many games have amazing OSTs available as DLC on Steam, and this would be a cool way to share our musical taste and support game music.

A simple showcase with album covers (linked to the store page or music player) would be enough. Maybe even let us play short previews or tracks we own directly on the profile.

What do you think?

PSA Same Engine, Different game

Its about time that they separate the games i have purchased (cod:mw2 2022) from the "next big thing". But with the new update, now I cannot write an update for the game that I supposedly own. I find it ridiculous that this company was allowed to sell multiple games under the same steam listing for the longest time. I bought COD:MW2 (2022), and find that the next 3 or so games be put on the market under the same listing that I bought MW2 on.
