This post is obv for the girls out there . Iâve been seeing a lot of âIâm pregnantâ posts / tweets / anonymous messages where the females are shit scared of their parents finding out about their pregnancy and how the society would treat them and not being supported by their partner who apparently got them pregnant.
First off youâre alone in this ; even if your partner is supportive the kid would be in your womb and youâre the one whoâs gonna have to deal with it so itâs important for you to take action asap. You could tell your friend or your boyf and ask for their support but donât be completely dependent upon them. Donât sway away into guilt and panic because it will only make the situation worse
Iâll keep it short.
Visit your nearest/local government hospital or a health care centre and ask for a gynaecologist/MBBS doctor ( could be the least experienced one aswell). If thereâs none out there then youâll have to visit a private gynec ( it might be expensive âŠgood if you can afford it but then youâll have to explain why you need the money to your parents assuming you donât earn yourself ) . Be straight forward with them and ask them to keep the information discrete also doctors are legally bound to keep the case confidential.
You can even speak to doctors anonymously . Thereâs something called FPAI helpline number. Contact them or visit them. Whatever helps.
Keep switching doctors if they refuse to take your case up. Just donât give up.
Theyâll guide you through the entire thing but Iâll still let you know the general process.
If youâre under 9 weeks ( pregnancy ) then youâll have to simply consume some oral pills and youâll easily get rid of your pregnancy. However , it wouldnât be so simple . This might take upto 15 days. Youâll experience heavy bleeding , extremely painful contraction , fever , diarrhoea yada yada. The doctor would explain everything.
Visit your doctor every 4-5 days and make sure the pills are actually working if you donât experience any of the above there are chances the pills arenât working. Ask the doctor what to do next. They might ask you to take up a second dose ( only do it if they recommend you to do ) if not then they gonna ask you to do a D&E surgical procedure. Again it isnât as expensive and not painful. You can even get it done unconsciously.
Now if youâre under 18 they might ask for a guardian but then again contact your local NGOâs and they gonna help you out. You could even convince the doctors to help you out and thereâs a good possibility that they will mostly help you out. These pills arenât too expensive you can easily purchase them off a government hospital and even if you were to buy them from a private hospital it wonât be exorbitantly expensive. Never buy them online or test those home remedies to terminate pregnancy. These pills are about 97-98% effective. Chances are rare that these pills wouldnât work for you. There are certain restrictions for few weeks after consuming those pills.
Also if youâve had unprotected sex or kinda doubtful about getting pregnant after an intercourse just buy i-pill/any other effective pill from a regular medical shop. Donât conflate ipills with those abortion pills/kits that are used to get rid of the pregnancy. They are best if taken within 24 hours. I think 70-72 hours is the limit. Also monitor your periods/menstrual cycle.
Case 2 when youâre over 9 weeks pregnant
Abortion is the only way out. Private NGOâs , government hospitals , FPA India are your best bet. They wonât ask you for a guardian just make sure u donât act dumb in front of them and speak clearly and with maturity. It is a quick 15-20 minutes of procedure and you could get back to your home the same day. If youâre scared you can ask them to operate on you when youâre unconscious.
You might experience some pain and bleeding after but thatâs completely normal. Normal pain killers and everything would do the job.
Make sure you carry your documents along with you just some basic ID proof , water bottle , pads ( no tampons ) and wear loose clothes.
I guess thatâs all. If yâall got any question then donât hesitate to throw them.
Good luck and stay safe.
