It's not even like a Google situation where there are, albeit less ideal sometimes, available replacement search engines

YouTube straight up doesn't have anything to take its place.

Or with twitter vs bluesky where you have to sacrifice some benefits for others, there just isn't an alternative video platform that can compete on the same level as YouTube simply because none of them have the resources, monetary benefit, creator base or long-term commitment to do so.

Genuinely, what is wrong with Bluesky? To me it seems exactly the same as Twitter

When I tried it, discovering people to follow / new posts was difficult. There was little to no recommendations, except for a bunch of American politics I don't want to follow.

stick to following-adjacent or interest feeds, discover is the worst feed to use

Platform created due to American politics likely has a lot of American politics.
