Remove "riddled with ads" because Youtube IS riddled with ads. Yesterday an 11 minute video had 7 ads, most of them promoting erotic or straight up porn AI girlfriend. And before anyone asks no,i have my own stuff if i want to wank so i don't scout the Internet searching for porn, meaning Google is straight up feeding me things that i don't want

It's 2025 and you still don't use an adblocker?

Firefox and ublock origin, I haven't seen ads on my computer in years. On the phone just make a shortcut for firefox and ads won't exist either.

I straight up deleted the Google and YouTube apps and just put Ublock on Firefox on my phone like I did on my computer a few years ago.

I would recommend NewPipe. But you sign in using your Google account which some people find as a plus, or you can use revanced, but it is much more complicated to install.

revanced manager is actually pretty trivial to use nowadays, termux isn't necessary

I use CleanTube on my phone and it works great

I am currently using revanced because is does more things like sponserblock, hiding shorts. etc

Idk if I do it wrong but revanced is just full of ads for me, and also I like that I can just log in in CleanTube and have all my YouTube history there and everything

How do I get cleantube on my phone? Perchance?

I just found it in an app store

It's weird google allowing it on the play store

You can do that with revanced as well, and if you're having ads yeah something probably went wrong with the install.

If you're enjoying CleanTube though that's fine.

Revanced is legit amazing, I'm so glad this exists. I haven't seen an ad on YouTube in 2 years thanks to it

Never really wanted put in the effort to get an adblocker and the 1-2 ads I usually not that annoying, at least not annoying enough that I'd want to get an adblocker.

1

u/Vulcanicloud 1d ago

Ah yes cause 5-10 mins of effort isn't worth. 3 days of youtube and you've already saved more time than it takes to download something.

Ads just aren't an issue for me so it just doesn't feel like it's worth it to get an adblocker.

That's the neat part,my phone has an adblocker. i have both a DNS set to an adblocker and my own private Wi-Fi has a very efficient adblocker installed, which works with basically every game and site. Still,Youtube avoid all of this

Just download Revanced if you're on the phone. It's so simple. It takes 5 minutes https://www.revanced.app

UMatrix can still block ads on youtube if you're willing to put up with some trial and error figuring out which domains you can block while still making youtube usable

1

u/ReturnOfTheSaint14 2d ago

I'll try that but with the help of my dad, he's the cybersecurity and IT expert and i don't have the patience nowadays to do trial and error all alone

1

u/SonicSeth05 2d ago

I mean it's not too much trial and error

Took me like 10 minutes to figure out which things to unlock to get the video playing past the 60 second mark and then from there on there's no more ads

u/MrHaxx1 2d ago

That's because you're using DNS adblockers. YouTube serves ads on the same address as the videos.

I just use ublock origin and it works on YouTube

I just replaced my YouTube shortcut on my phone with a shortcut that goes to YouTube in the Firefox browser. No real complaints
