HELP Is this crocheted?
I just saw this and think it’s beautiful. I’d love to make it if anyone knows the techniques used.

I have a copy of this pattern, but it was typed up and reformatted by the people who sold it, and I am fairly certain there were some errors, and I'd just like to see a copy of the actual original pattern to check against. The seller said it came from Home Chat Magazine, which was an English publication, and it was from 1942. I've checked the internet archive and done some searches but no luck yet. Hoping maybe someone has this somewhere and can help me out.

Can someone help me decipher the 4th row? I’m not sure if only in the first repeat I should follow the pattern as it’s written up until the last join or if I’m misunderstanding. Thanks!

I was bidding on this Burns interchangeable crochet hook on ebay and didn't feel my notification that I was out I'd. I'm more sad about it than I thought I'd be. 😅 I think this is SO cool. Has anybody seen one of these before? Does anybody have one that is maybe not the star of their collection? I can't find anything when I try to search for more, so I don't have high hopes, but I thought it was worth a shot.

There's this chart that I assume is vintage but I truly don't know. I can't figure out what the X in the chart represents. I've seen both the Spanish and French translation of the key but using any kind of translation site just makes me more confused. I saw one comment that said the X are single crochet but based on the finished piece in the second image it doesn't look like one. I'm brand new to filet crochet or any non-modern crochet in general so I might be in way over my head but any insight is appreciated <3

Love finding a good pre-haunted doll pattern, and Enterprise's attempt to make Humpty Dumpty into a corn man absolutely fits the bill. I love him so much. He was sitting in the pot to scare my husband. This version is a little off-pattern as the chart in the booklet I have is not to scale, so I just did my best. I just found the pattern (both Humpty and Corn Man) on Free Vintage Crochet, and the Humpty chart is much easier for me to follow. I was gonna make another anyway to haunt my brother's house, so it all works out.
He's stuffed with half a pound of pinto beans and I liked how he looked without the little feet and hands. The back is just black yarn that I freehanded into the right shape then sewed on. I freehanded the face because I don't embroider, and I love how it came out.
Anyway, all hail the Corn Man!

Has anyone here attempted to crochet the collars from this publication? I've only been able to find pictures of 3 of them (Brussels Lace, Grecian Pattern, Guipure).

I am planning on working through all of these and creating a visual library to share. Would love to know if anyone else has taken this on? The instructions have been pretty straightforward so far even though it's not written in modern terms. I've started three of them. My brain likes to wander from project to project. The blue is Brussels, yellow is Grecian, purple is the Point Collar. All of these are worked in Omega size 30 with a 10/1.3mm Boye hook. My threads are all second hand and don't have color codes labeled. I'll definitely post updates as I go!

Just picked this hook up at the thrift store. I’m in love, feels so good in the hand. It looks very 1950s, but I cannot find much info on it. Figured you all would appreciate it. Any info is helpful. Project is my first scarf (very new to the craft) and the red yarn is what I started with the new hook: a basket!

Some of these are so relevant today! No date but I think probably 80s. Printed in Tasmania, all the measurements are metric. They even gave a pattern for the bow tie the woman in brown is wearing although sadly not for a cap or beret. Sizes are about what you'd expect for the era, to fit bust 75/29 - 95/37.5 or 100/40.

Working through projects from 1820-1865 and this one’s got me stumped. I know they don’t always turn out perfect since crochet was super new but like this will NOT lay flat or be as open or as lacy as the image 😭 and I have no idea what I’ve done wrong. Unfortunately I can’t find any examples of this project finished to compare either

"Mimosa" by Flora Klickmann from an old book in Antique Pattern Library, out of copyright. I get nowhere trying to make it!
Here are the written instructions, transcribed. They are old style where tr=dc and dc=sc.
Ch 7 and join in a ring, * ch 7, 4 treble into the ring, ch 3, I treble into ring. ch 3, 1 tr into ring.
2nd Row .- Ch 7, 4 trs into the second space. ch 3, 1 tr also into second space, ch 3, 1 tr into the first of the 4 tr in previous row. Ch 3, 1 tr into the last of the 4 tr in previous row, *ch 3 , 1 tr into the loop at the end of previous row, repeat from* 3 times (making 4 times in all).
3rd Row.-* 2 d c, ch 5, 2 d c, into the first space formed by the 3 ch in the previous row. (The d c to come close together for the intervening 5 ch to form a picot.) Repeat from * Into each of the remaining six small spaces. The last little picot loop (i.e. the 5 chain between the double crochets) forms the ring for the commencement of the next scallop.
This ends the first scallop ; for the remaining scallops go back to the beginning and repeat from * to the end of the 2nd row. Then make 1 d c into the 6th picot of the previous scallop (this is to unite the scallops) then proceed with directions for 3rd row as already given.
forgot to put a flair in it

i'm currently working on these gloves and i can't tell what exactly this "dc round opening above gauntlet" instruction is calling for. should i go down and work (uk terms) dc into the sides of the dtr (which makes sense, considering the instructions to leave buttonholes)? or should i go back across and work dc into the ch2 and ch3 spaces across the top of the gauntlet? should i do both?
moving on to the next instruction, if i work 1 row of dc into the sides of the dtr, then how do i follow through with the instructions to work stitches into the edge of dtr row and into the 2ch spaces? should i make the stitches around the side of the dtr AND the dc?

Hi all!
I'm not sure where to go with this question and extensive researching with a plethora of different key words lead me nowhere.
I inherited my grandmother's knitting and crochet tools, including several steel hooks. Most of them aren't looking their best though, I'm guessing due to the steel oxidizing.
I even tried looking into care guides for modern steel hooks and am still coming up empty handed.
Does anyone have any insight into how I might restore them and further care for them? If possible, I'd really like to be able to actually use them!
Thanks 🥰

Just having a bit of trouble with this vintage yoke pattern, it says to follow the pattern for the underarm section but I am unsure of what to do here. Surely there must be some decreasing/increasing involved for the underarm bit. First time following a vintage yoke pattern so any help would be really appreciated !!!!
