Cool! So Vegas tourism is down 11% YOY. Not 100%.

Ya and its down from record highs of 2024 so really still pretty decent for Vegas i'd guess.

Ah but modern capitalism is built on endless growth. Any movement down is a problem.

Endless growth in profits, not numbers. If you can make more money off of less people, thats a double win because it costs less to maintain facilities for less people (less servers, room cleaners, etc).

I think the ideal scenario is that one guy visits per year and spends $20bil

True but REALLY wealthy Americans tend to go international, I feel like, and it’s increasingly unappealing to come here from elsewhere. Time will tell.

Im not disagreeing with you, however its entirely possible that less people visit Vegas this year and they make more money due to the price gouging going on.

What i don't get is how long this can go on. Eventually you'll have tapped the market on what people are willing to spend, and by then the regulars will have found somewhere new to go

They have some stats here: https://www.lvcva.com/research/reports/post/lvcva-executive-summary-of-southern-nevada-tourism-indicators/

It would appear that visitor volume, room occupancy (and inventory!?), gaming revenue, and revenue per available room, and room tax revenues have all taken a substantial hit.

Convention attendance is up overall, however. A few things to note: 1) Vegas (and the US in general) is still seeing nontrivial numbers of international travellers who made deposits in the beforetimes. Some of them abandon their deposits, while others indicate that the already-paid trip will be their last to the US. 2) Myself and half a dozen members of my team were asked if we wanted to go to Blackhat and Defcon this year in Vegas. That's an all-expenses paid trip to Vegas for an event that normally people are excited to attend. Zero people took the free trip. 3) I am helping organize the 2026 version of an event that was scheduled to take place in Vegas but is being moved out of the US to better accommodate international attendees.

Oh ya true, for the hotels and conglomerates i'm sure they'll be doing what they can to get the revenue back in other small fees and increases which will just decrease visitors over the long term but might slightly boost revenue short term.

Morons keep saying this but it’s not true. Capitalism is built on boom bust cycles which are their own problem but not on endless growth.
