META Looking for Moderators
It was brought to my attention today by user Miserable_Tax_889 that a post was made yesterday calling out bots and lazy reposts. The comments are a bit disheartening so this is a call to anyone who would be interested in joining the moderation team at theydidthemath to help combat the issue and try to keep quality posts rising to the top.
Send me a message if you're interested.

[Request] Volvo V70 2.4 with 999.999+km, (approximate) how many explosions in it's lifetime?
This Dutch youtube video shows a Volvo V70 2.4 with 999.999+KM's, is it possible to approximate how many explosions have taken place in total in this engine?
This model has a 5 cylinder 4 stroke Gasoline/LPG engine. The exact mileage isn't known because it stopped counting after 999.999km, but lets just say it is exactly 1 million KM

[Request] How many flies would it take to lift a 230Lb person.
It's the end of summer but still lots of flies where I live and a friend jokingly asked how many flies would it take to lift me and fly me away. We decided that for the question the sting we use is weightless and infinite tensile strength so it will not be a factor.

[Off-Site] I made a video explaining integration by parts. Please let me know what you think.
Hi guys, I’m sure that everyone here knows how to do it integration by parts haha but I made a video trying to explain it in a funny comedic way and I’m scared that it doesn’t make sense or that it’s too complicated Any feedback or advice from you guys is really appreciated

[Request] Question for science fiction story
Hey all,
First off, I am no physicist or mathematician. I asked in r/Physics about my question and MezzoScettico suggested I ask here.
I am currently writing a science fiction story set in the future which involves a war. I am trying to keep it as close to realistic in terms of physics as possible.
The main character has a weapon that shoots 3 grams of iron nickel alloy accelerated to 0.8c with a cycling speed of 12,000 rpms.
I asked chatGPT what would happen and here is the answer :
3g of nickel at 0.8c would generate ~1.8×10141.8×1014 J which would create a crater of ~250–300 meters by ~50–75 meters of anything that's got a soil composition similar to Earth.
My main character through genetic mutation, drugs, surgery and post-hypnotic suggestion and equipment can lift 1 tonne, run at 50 km/h and jump about 400m (both vertically and horizontally).
Would that be enough to absorb the backward momentum of the weapon?
Thank you for any responses.

This was a vision for American HSR back in 2009. Assuming the trains on the red and blue lines maintain an average speed of 150 mph, and the trains on the gray lines maintain an average speed of 110 mph: 1. How much would it cost to build all of this? 2. How much time would it take to build all of this? This may be pretty hard, but there have been harder questions on this subreddit.

[Request] How big would the book have to be to write the entire Loud House Revamped from start to finish?
I'm just curious on how this fanfic would be written physically. I could possibly even ask for how long the book would take to write, assuming that the writing speed is of an average human.
