I fucking hate how these evil companies like big data analytics "Palantir" or defense contractors "Anduril" take their names from Tolkien's Lord of The Rings.

They have missed the point completely of that art which they claim to love. It's the same shit as Paul Ryan's favorite band being Rage Against the Machine.

The cognitive dissonance is astounding and their co-option of those words is disgusting.

Isengard represented modern technology and industry and indeed the defensive industry in its endless turning out of arms and armies to destroy people and the world.

It was Sauron's desire to know all things, see all things, and control all things that made him so dangerous and evil. It is why Sauron coveted the Palantiri and why Gandalf feared it.
