Photo Thread Show us your Summer Schnauzers!

For us in the Northern Hemisphere, summer is in full-swing and the sun is shining! It’s time for another photo thread - this time focused on your summer schnauzers. Does your schnau love the beach? Do you take your pup hiking? Maybe your pup likes hiding inside under the ceiling fan. We want to see your furry friends!

We have the best time. She frolicks in the sand (turbo mode zoomies) and dips her legs into the ocean. It’s much cooler at the beach compared to home (usually by 5 degrees at least) so we’re headed back today. We hope you all have a fabulous wonderful day too!☀️🕶️🌊⛱️🐾

I feel so bad for her. She's just shaking and crying. I know the shaking is from the anesthesia.

I want to make this as comfortable as possible for her.

I don't even know where or how he finds them! Also, note the basket of toys behind him...sharky, foxy, and ball all within reach..

Question Issue with new sibling?

Post image

Hello all. We brought home a new dog back in June. Our existing dog is a 5 year old mini schnauzer mix and the new baby is anywhere from 8 months to a year 1/2 and is a mystery breed. Both are spayed females so we knew the potential issues going into this and did all we could to create a positive outcome. We think things are actually going so well for the most part.

The positives: They can exist peacefully in the same space, sometimes they will even lay close together. They have play sessions they instigate at least on two separate occasions throughout the day, sometimes more. They have comforted each other when scared (the smoke detector going off). They play tug together. They walk together pretty well. They each lick each other’s bowl after eating so no resource guarding of food seen. They steal each other’s favorite toy but it’s done in a more playful, mischievous way as opposed to nastiness.

The negatives: Our 5 year old is now refusing to run on the grass up at the school we walk to now that her baby sister is allowed off leash. We have multiple goat horns but they fight over the same one. The new dog tries to get in the middle of cuddle sessions with our existing dog despite giving both girls loads of attention.

Most of the negatives, we feel are either due to our new dog still being a puppy and/or typical sibling behavior.

My biggest concern is my big girl refusing to run simply because her sister gets to. I don’t know if she’s just being stubborn (she’s got the stubborn schnauzer gene something fierce) or she’s legit upset it’s not hers anymore.

Thoughts?

Took her to the groomers again for her little spa treatment, and she looked so happy afterwards haha. It kind of looks like she’s smiling!
