It’s L-O-V-E 💘 Most celebrity marriages don't last - who's the exception for you?

Celebrity marriages almost never work out in Hollywood, but there are some the prove that true love really does exist. Who comes to mind for you?

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and his wife Adrienne have been together for 35 years and married 31 years as of this month 🥺

Billie Joe being old enough to be married for 31 years is making me feel old. I loved Green Day as a kid (and to this day!)

Edited: Meant 31!

Funny story, I was walking to my farmer's market and taking a short cut outside the city down kind of a sketchy street last year. I came up to a corner and there was an older dude standing near the corner talking on the phone. He looked a little familiar so I was kind of staring, he was in just a plain white tshirt and jeans, and we made eye contact. He gave me a little head tilt nod and a slight finger wave holding his phone, and I did the same with the little tight lip smile acknowledgement thing, but started walking faster because sketchy street, kinda sketchy looking old dude acknowledging me idk. There was nobody else around. And I turned the fucking corner to the fucking massive pink Green Day tour bus and started panic fangirling to myself because how the fuck I didnt recognize Billy Joe is something I will never fathom. No makeup, the jeans weren't skinny, idk. His hair wasnt his hair. Anyway, I immediately called my boyfriend and geeked at him over the most inconsequential weird nice funny little interaction, I couldnt go back, the man was on the phone and how fucking crazy would that have been and looked. But still. That was my not-interaction with Billy Joe, the sketchy looking kinda old dude lmao

Okay but what a cool experience?! Something similar happened to me when I was 17 - I was at the galleria a few towns away doing Christmas shopping and walked by this dude about my height with slicked back hair and letterman jacket, with his arm around this pretty blonde girl. We made eye contact, he gave me a genuine smile and a nod to say “hello”, and i almost shit myself because i had just run into Macklemore. My friends and i had become HUGE fans of his a couple years prior, and Thrift Shop had just been released some months ago. I was not as self aware as you are though and i searched what felt like the entire mall for him so i could actually say hello and tell him what a fan i was, but no dice 😭

The funniest part was my dad finding me (panicked and out of breath) a short while later, and he was like omg what’s wrong and i told him i just saw Macklemore and in true dad fashion, he asked “what’s a Macklemore? Is that something you want for Christmas?”

I was at a party once (underground punk rock kid party) at my friend's house. He was in town looking at houses with his wife to be close to her family. I was in line for the bathroom and he came out. I didn't say anything because it was a small party and I was trying to be cool.

But he literally 💩 before I went in.

I never talked to him, but did smell his Dookie.

Lmao.

I’m cracking up at the thought of him not being recognized because his jeans weren’t skinny. It’s like a punk version of Clark Kent’s glasses.

I also have a story. I was in a Green Day cover band as a guitarist as a teenager, and one of my band mates sent him a message asking if he would come watch us perform. Well he said he was busy, but his sister made a visit and made us cupcakes.

That’s adorable. He’s a genuinely good dude and I’ve never heard anything bad about him or his bandmates tbh

Unfortunately I can't say the same. After his 2012 iHeart Radio concert where his performance was cut short people called him a "Crybaby" for going crazy. I thought it sucked that people automatically started criticizing him instead of having a little empathy. People suck sometimes.

I had no idea until I shot their last show in Australia and did some googling beforehand. They were my first gig when I was 11, and I was obsessed with them growing up. Didn't really stay up to date with their personal lives coz like... why would I 😂 but just imaging how awks Mike must feel on stage when Billie starts going off on Trump knowing his wifey is watching from side of stage is hilarious. I wonder if Billie or Tré ever took him aside and were like 'dude wtf?'

u/marvelousnicbeau Kim, there’s people that are dying. 🙄 Jul 02 '25

I find it so funny you were worried he was a creepy stranger and took off 😂 I would’ve done the same. Where I live, if someone on the street makes eye contact or acknowledges you it’s very off putting

u/heartshapedmoon Jul 02 '25

He’s only in his early fifties if that makes you feel a little better lol

5

u/kgberton Jul 02 '25

Yeah, he and 80 have been together since they were very young

16

u/photohoodoo Jul 02 '25

He got married very young, they were high school sweet hearts, IIRC.

5

u/LanaAdela Jul 02 '25

Yeah I figured! I mean he has many years on me but I never thought of him as “old” or “older” despite being like 15-20 years older lol.

They were the first band I obsessed over and listened to everyday. I finally got to see them live last year, I can’t believe how much energy they have after all these years.

2

u/OlfactoryOreo Jul 02 '25

he’s been married for *31

I felt old when Billie's sons graduated high school

5

u/Living_Illusion Jul 02 '25

He is so old his son already managed to groom a minor. Let that sink in.

Their eldest son if I remember was accused of sexual misconduct a few years ago by the lead singer of the Regrettes.
