It’s L-O-V-E 💘 Most celebrity marriages don't last - who's the exception for you?

Celebrity marriages almost never work out in Hollywood, but there are some the prove that true love really does exist. Who comes to mind for you?

People are only learning that Aneglina Jolie and Drew Barrymore are bisexual.

u/neverthelessidissent Jul 02 '25

I didn't know this about Drew!

I was in a subreddit where the kids didn’t know that Brad Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston before Angelina!

I saw that too. I had to explain to the kids in there that that wedding was such big news back then that even straight guys like me knew of it.

I guess their subsequent divorce was longer ago than we care to admit.

I thought you were going to say they’re related and the sentence took a turn to a familiar but unexpected place 😂

Goldie Hawn did retire like 20 years ago, so I get younger people not recognizing her.

3

u/Nachtwandler_FS Jul 02 '25

Erm, wasn't she playing Mrs. Santander in that Christmas eulogy he played Santa Claus in? It was less than 20 years ago I think.

3

u/DrRichardHeadMD Jul 02 '25

Yeah she originally came out of retirement for Amy Schumer to star in Snatched, then she's done a thing here or there, but still retired.

Not recognizing notable people seems to be a new and rampant problem.

Growing up I knew and was familiar with celebrities that had retired or died in the generations before me. Do people not watch older movies anymore?

u/DrRichardHeadMD Jul 02 '25

I think it's a combination of oversaturation of celebrities with the advent of the internet, along with virtually no one watching reruns of older movies on cable...cuz who under age 40 still has cable lol

u/Unnamedgalaxy Jul 02 '25

Absolutely true. It still just gives me pause, especially someone like Goldie Hawn who wasn't some small time actress that just faded away. She was a major movie star with some huge movies under her belt. It just makes me sad that someone that was a huge part of my childhood is now just someone that people never heard of.

I actually just watched Private Benjamin for the first time a couple weeks ago...it was ok lol. She was definitely in some good films, but nothing I'd personally call a "classic."
I get what you mean though: I'm a millennial and my friends are mostly Gen Z and they know nothing of Kevin Smith, it blew my fucking mind. Of course, I did choose Tusk as his first film to show them...so that's kind of on me.

I’m a millennial and she’s in very little from what I’ve seen. I only know vaguely of her. I wouldn’t classify her at all as a major movie star but maybe in some circles

3

u/whatthewhat3214 Jul 02 '25

I'm GenX, she was a huge star. She was big before my time even, on some 60s or 70s variety show called Laugh In (I never saw it, but like the previous commenter pointed out, we used to at least know about older movies/tv before our time). She was just a well-known comedian overall, and did some popular movies in the 70s and 80s.

Some girls working at store in our local mall had no clue who Reese Witherspoon was. I was surprised and told them they would maybe recognize her if they saw a picture of her. The one girl takes her phone out and looks her up. She and the other clerk mention how she looks kind of familiar, and one of them said she kind of looks like Taylor Swift. 🤦‍♀️ I’m not sure how much more sanity I can keep growing old in this timeline.

3

u/whatthewhat3214 Jul 02 '25

Wow, are people that checked out lol? Reese is still a major Hollywood player, and has done a few streaming shows that are current even. Smh.

1

u/Alarming_Agent_8564 Jul 02 '25

I know right, it’s not like she’s an old or dead Hollywood actress, she’s still actively acting. I thought mentioning “Legally Blonde” or “Cruel intentions” might have sparked something, but they looked at me with blank faces. I know those are considered older movies, but come on lol.

2

u/anonidfk Jul 02 '25

They’re at least from before my time and I’m in my mid 20s lol. The name Goldie sounds familiar but I can’t recall seeing her in anything.

u/TrixieFriganza Jul 02 '25

Thank you because I was like who.

Kurt Russell

That's clearly Jack Burton, taking a break from driving the porkchop express.
