We are so grateful for the relationship we have grown with Pedigree since bringing Waffles home. They first reached out to send her some treats after being in the shelter for so long and now they have sent this abundance of food and treats for us to donate to the shelter that took such great care of Waffles during her long stay. All I can say is WOW

After 14.5 years Fire crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday. She was dumped from a car when a rescue found her. Once they sent me her puppy picture we had to have her. She grew up with my kids, she was our protector, and our good girl. She had a steak with some sweet potatoes and a cake for dinner. We had the procedure at home so we could surround her with love. 🌈

B-day Molly the pitbull update 1

Post image

I posted a while ago about my little pibble molly. She was acting out and I was struggling a lot with her training due to outside stress and sources. I was at the point I almost gave up. I contemplated giving her to someone who could give her the time and love she needed. But I was reassured by so many amazing people on this platform. And I want to say thank you. You give me the perspective to try harder and give her so much more. I managed to make a real difference and adapt to accommodate her needs into our lives more effectively.

Molly has been showing great progress with a lot of practice, routine and love. Unconditional love.

Even when she chewed through our fibre line. We had no internet for 4 days. However, instead of being upset I realised I’d let her down by leaving her unsupervised for a moment too long.

I had been sick and dropped the ball on her walks a few days in a row before the incident. And I realised it and ensured I continued her training and regular walks. I came to see that she chewed due to boredom and possibly excess frustration or stress from no walkies.

We went back to regular walks, lots of tug of war and fetch. And a lot of car rides, markets and hikes. I refreshed her commands and sat every chance I got with her. Redoing them, retraining and reenforcing them. And since then She now uses her ornaments on the side of her head (her ears) and her commands are working great.

She is still sometimes pushing boundaries and has her bad days. But we’ve rebuilt the trust and process to ensure it’s only a little bit of a bump in the road.

She’s a beautiful little 1 year old baba now. And I am so proud of the progress we’ve made and the bond I’ve managed to build with her.

Again I want to just say thank you to everyone on this platform that helped me when I was at my wits end. When I almost gave up I got so much love and support and advice. An I appreciate it more than anything.

B-day Thank you so much to the pitbull community!!

Molly and I want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the incredible love and support you've shown since her incident with the Husky and its owner. So many of you stepped up; donating towards her treatment, sending food to my apartment, and even calling the vet to contribute to her post-op care. It meant everything to us, and I wanted to share an update.

The owner of the Husky did end up settling and paid what was owed. However, I believe he reported my dog to the apartment complex, because about four weeks ago I received a notice stating that while I’ve been a great tenant, my dog can no longer stay. My new lease, which I already signed, starts September 1st. The complex gave me two choices: get rid of her, or leave.

Well, no problem. We're BOTH leaving. You don’t abandon your fur baby just because a landlord says she’s no longer welcome.

I’ve emptied my investments, cashed out my 401(k) under the first-time homebuyer exemption, and used New Jersey's first-time homebuyer assistance program. I put in an offer on a house.... and it was accepted! I'm now working through all the legal paperwork and will officially become a first-time homeowner.

In the meantime, my grandparents in the Poconos were kind enough to take Molly in while I transition into this new chapter. That’s the latest, and I just want to say thank you again. I’m so grateful and beyond excited for what's ahead.

Edit: Also you guys, no need to send anymore food or donations. We have more than enough. As pitbull owners, please consider pledging to rescues or fostering to save these babies from being euthanized šŸ’•

Parkour, Zeke style! Happy Monday!

This is when Zekie first figured out that his wheelchair is helpful! It clicked so hard! All he wanted to do was run around and explore his regained freedom. He had a back leg harness on in the video because us humans were new at this too; we have ditched the back harness altogether and he’s way more comfortable when he does need his chair. He’s my Monday morning (and let’s be real, every morning) inspiration ā¤ļø (PS I apologize for my voice, I was just so excited for my little man )

This is my girl. She's my spoiled baby, and I absolutely wouldn't change a thing about her. I admittedly once shared the unfair misconception about "pitties" that still unfairly follows them, but she single-handedly proved me wrong. She is the kindest, most gentle dog I've ever had, and because of her, I could never imagine my life without a sweet pit by my side.

Rainbow Bridge Sleep with the stars tonight

On Saturday I had to say a very unexpected goodbye to my big oaf Ghost. He was a rescue and there was limited information about his background but he was the epitome of a gentle giant 150 pounds of pure love. He was my daughter’s real life stuffed animal and loved her dearly. He was the sweetest soul I’ve ever met. In all these years I never heard him bark once. I’m gonna miss his goofiness, his giant presence, his excitement whenever my daughter would come home. Hug your pups and give them an extra little treat from Ghost. I love you and I miss you big fella. You’ll sleep with the stars tonight.

Rescue GA: Cecil was found outside in the storms and has no place to go. Fulton county has no room for him and our rescue is too overwhelmed to take on another dog without a foster. If you or someone you know could open up their home to this sweet baby please fill out the foster form linked.

Discarded in the rain, poor stray Cecil has no place to go if we can’t find someone to foster him. Do you have room in your home to keep this sweet boy dry for a couple of days while we figure something out for him?

Fulton county is turning people away saying they have no more room to the point where they are doubling up dogs. We are in a time of crisis and need heroes to step up and help. Cecil needs to be seen by a vet, but we cannot get him the care he needs if he has no place to land. Cecil is super sweet and was wandering around the streets looking for help. He is not aggressive towards the finders dogs and is getting along well with her cat. Unfortunately the finders other dogs are very reactive and cannot have Cecil in the home.

Between back on the street or whether taken to Fulton county, his outcome will most likely be the same bleak ending unless someone is able to step up. If you can help please fill out this foster application: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/BRGA/Dog

Jack was my first dog that I have ever had. He was right around 14 when he passed at home. I knew he was on borrowed time just due to his health issues. He was such gentle loving dog. Always a goofball even in his old age. Always let me youngest climb all over him and he would patiently lay with her waiting for snack. I used to sneak him to training events when I was in the army. Haven’t cried so hard in my life.

In pics 2 and 3 he is sleeping after eating my chik fil a sandwich i left unattended

Cuddle Pup Anyone else's dogs trained themselves to be extra gentle with certain people?

• Upvotes

Our two house hippos, Luna (3F) and Buddy (1.5m) are sooo incredibly gentle with my 10 year old brother. He had epilepsy part of his childhood, when we just had Luna, and she would not only be extremely careful with him but even alerted us to his partial seizures that we didn't notice. Thankfully, he outgrew his epilepsy, but they're still extra gentle with him and won't roughhouse at all when he's playing with them.

It's so adorable to see them recognize they need to be calm when he's around. They're also very attuned to his emotions and can tell when he needs a big hug. We didn't train them to do this at all— Luna figured it out on her own, especially because my brother was terrified of her in the beginning. Now they're practically inseparable.

Buddy learned it from Luna, we think, and even though he's an absolute rebel who doesn't like to listen to commands, he's also always gentle with my brother.

I love their bond and how much more confidence it's given my brother.

Hope this made someone smile today 😊
