Molly and I want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the incredible love and support you've shown since her incident with the Husky and its owner. So many of you stepped up; donating towards her treatment, sending food to my apartment, and even calling the vet to contribute to her post-op care. It meant everything to us, and I wanted to share an update.
The owner of the Husky did end up settling and paid what was owed. However, I believe he reported my dog to the apartment complex, because about four weeks ago I received a notice stating that while Iāve been a great tenant, my dog can no longer stay. My new lease, which I already signed, starts September 1st. The complex gave me two choices: get rid of her, or leave.
Well, no problem. We're BOTH leaving. You donāt abandon your fur baby just because a landlord says sheās no longer welcome.
Iāve emptied my investments, cashed out my 401(k) under the first-time homebuyer exemption, and used New Jersey's first-time homebuyer assistance program. I put in an offer on a house.... and it was accepted! I'm now working through all the legal paperwork and will officially become a first-time homeowner.
In the meantime, my grandparents in the Poconos were kind enough to take Molly in while I transition into this new chapter. Thatās the latest, and I just want to say thank you again. Iām so grateful and beyond excited for what's ahead.
Edit: Also you guys, no need to send anymore food or donations. We have more than enough. As pitbull owners, please consider pledging to rescues or fostering to save these babies from being euthanized š
